Tamara Morgan
Welcome to Guilty Pleasures Tamara!
What was your inspiration for the Montgomery Manor series?
Downton Abbey and Upstairs, Downstairs. I love when we get to see beyond the veil of wealth and prestige to what goes on belowstairs…especially when there’s plenty of the high drama, romance, and conflict that happens when the same people live and work under the same roof. Setting things in a modern-day mansion gave me wiggle room to make the story my own.
Ryan is used to the fast living of Hollywood. How has his transition into the sleepy Ransom Creek, Connecticut?
Not good, poor man. As a stunt driver, Ryan is accustomed to fast speeds, sharp turns, dangerous edges, and people who embrace that lifestyle. Being forced to tuck his tail between his legs and take up residence in a place where the most exciting thing to happen is one of Amy’s charges cutting a tooth is hard on him.
But as the readers come to realize, all those fast speeds weren’t necessarily good for him either. Like most of us, he just has to learn how to find (and embrace) a balance.
Amy grew up in Ransom Creek in the Manor and she has returned to her home town. What brings her back?
Well, I can’t tell you all the reasons, because that would be giving too much away! 🙂
But a think a big part of her decision is wanting to be near the people she loves. Her story is one that’s pretty familiar to all of us…she moved away at a young age to experience the world, she experienced said world, and now she’d like to get back to the familiar comforts of home. We humans are such predictable creatures sometimes.
In your opinion, what’s the most romantic scene in the novel?
Oh! Good question. I think the most romantic scene is when they’re in the kitchen together doing dishes as a favor to the family cook. Ryan and Amy haven’t yet acted on their attraction, but they’re opening their hearts to one another anyway. That kind of tension—the push and pull of getting to know one another without giving too much away—is my favorite part about falling in love.
Ryan has a rival for Amy’s affections. But he proves to be irresistible. What is it about Ryan that makes him hero material?
You mean, other than his gruff charm and good looks? *grin* It’s probably his commitment to doing the right thing as far as Amy is concerned. There are so many people out there (male and female) who take what they can get, where they can get it. Not Ryan.
Even before he and Amy are involved romantically, he’s puts her needs above his own. That, to me, is a man worthy of a cape and a HEA.
What’s next in the Montgomery Manor series?
Option A: So far, the Montgomery Manor series is set to be three books. Next up is WHEN I FALL, which is a fake engagement story featuring playboy Jake Montgomery. It comes out in August. BECAUSE I CAN, an ugly duckling story between the family scion and the handywoman, follows on its heels in October.

IF I STAY Summary
Ryan Lucas would rather be anywhere but Ransom Creek, Connecticut. After losing his high-adrenaline career as a Hollywood stunt driver, he’s had to tuck his tail between his legs and take up employment as a chauffeur for the Montgomerys, a wealthy hotelier family.
Amy Sanders has returned home to Ransom Creek to take over her mother’s former position as nanny to the Montgomerys—bringing her close to dashing Jake Montgomery once again. She grew up with a major crush on Jake, and it’s not easy to leave those feelings behind, even though her friendship with the hard-edged family chauffeur, Ryan, has a sizzling undercurrent of undeniable attraction.
Amy’s determined to prove to Ryan that life at Montgomery Manor isn’t all bad, but each time they draw closer Jake swoops in. Amy is torn between two men—and two worlds. And Ryan is rapidly coming to learn that if he wants to make Amy his, he’ll have to prove to her that life downstairs can be everything they both want.

Author Biography
Tamara Morgan is a contemporary romance author of humorous, heartfelt stories with flawed heroes and heroines designed to get your hackles up and make your heart melt. Her long-lived affinity for romance novels survived a B.A. degree in English Literature, after which time she discovered it was much more fun to create stories than analyze the life out of them.
Whether building Victorian dollhouses, consuming mass quantities of coffee and wine, or crying over cheesy 1950s musicals, Tamara commits to her flaws like every good heroine should. She lives in the Inland Northwest with her husband, daughter, and variety of household pets and only occasionally complains about the weather.
