Hello my fellow book Freaks!! Yes, I know it has been awhile since I’ve made an appearance and for that I apologize. Life is pesky that way.
I wanted to take a moment and tell you about the Awesome experience I had at RT (Romantic Times) Book Convention in New Orleans. I was a virgin, heheheh, to both RT and NOLA and let me tell you it did not disappoint. If you ever get the chance to experience this, take it. It’s the biggest craziest book conference I have ever been to. I will admit I was a party crasher but hey that’s what I’m all about. 😉
I meet so many Fantastic authors, some new, some I fan girl over a bit, these women and men are my FREAKING ROCKSTARS. To get and sit and have drinks, dinner or just hang out with the likes of Kele Moon, Jaci Burton, Jenna Jacobs, RG-Alexander, Jennifer Bernard, A. L. Jackson, Lauren Blakely, E.L. James, yes that’s right people, and sooo many others to count!
Although, it wasn’t just the authors but other readers, bloggers and industry people that have a love for books and making new friends that have this common thread with you. It’s just amazing!!
NOLA was freaking out of this world, I can’t even describe the atmosphere, and I think it’s one that you should experience at least once in your life. Kinda like Vegas but with a lot more history. The food, bars, the people it was better than Vegas was IMO that is.
I want to say a special shout to my roommate’s authors Nicole Flockton and Janet Wren, some of the best roomies, even calling to check on me at three in the morning since I hadn’t made it to the room yet. Hey it was Friday night, LOL!!
So with that I’ll say it was a little overwhelming at times but totally worth it for just the experience and one that I will jump at to do again! Next year will be in Dallas so I will be planning for that trip in May, this event fills up fast so keep on the lookout for information on my Facebook page, Shey Houston, hopefully I’ll seeing some of my fellow FREAKS there hanging out at the corner.
