It’s been a long while since I’ve read one of Lara Adrian’s Midnight Breed series books and I was a 
little concerned going in I might be lost not knowing everything that’s taken place in the last 6 books or so but that was not the case. Once again I became immersed in this world and these characters without missing a step mainly due to the flawless writing by this author. Although novella length, Tempted by Midnight is every bit as provocative, seductive, suspenseful, and sexy as reader’s have come to expect from this author and an excellent addition to this series.
Gen One Breed warrior Lazaro lost everything when his breedmate and entire family was wiped out 20 years ago. He’s cut himself off from his feelings and refuses to ever put another woman or family in harm’s way with the work he does for The Order. When Melena Walsh walks back into his life he tries to bury what he feels for her; the need, the want but a perilous situation has their emotions running high and Lazaro finds his control shattered.
There was no denying the heat between these two or the bond that started years ago. Lazaro was a typical stubborn Breed warrior but what I loved is Melena had no issue calling him out. She simply refused to let him off easy and told him exactly what she thought. Sure it made him angry and yes, that anger turned into some fast and furious sexy times but it also helped her prove he was not as immune as he pretended to be. I loved the way she pushed him to confront his feelings and the fact that she didn’t back down. I’ll admit at times I wanted to knock some sense in to Lazaro but I could also understand why he was so determined to keep his distance because more than he wanted Melena, he wanted her safe.
From beginning to end I was completely engrossed in Tempted By Midnight and I could not put it down. The latest offering in the 1001 Dark Nights does not disappoint and I can’t wait to see what they put out next!

I love this series. I look forward to Laz’s story. He really deserves some happiness. Glad it was a full story even if it’s novella length.
