Mari Carr gave us a shock … gave us love … allowed us to watch three wonderful people have their dreams come true. ~ Kitty – Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews
Synopsis:
Dream big. Dream wild.
Oliver has always longed for a love just like his parents have—all three of them. He’s certain he’s already halfway to that happily ever after. His foster brother calls it wild, but Ollie knows they can find the woman of their dreams.
Gavin has always accepted that life is just one disappointment after another. Growing up in the foster system taught him that. Oliver is one of the few people he can trust, so he prefers they stay a two-man band.
Erin is a curvy, spunky brunette neither of them saw coming. But fate has another wild card in store for the three of them, one that will test everyone’s faith in their very different dreams for the future.
Dream big – Dream wild … In the Collins family I don’t think there is any such thing as big dreams or wild dreams. There are just dreams. They know what they want, they do everything in their power to make those big and wild dreams come true. So, when Oliver had a dream that Gavin thought was wild, I knew, deep down, that those dreams weren’t wild, that they would come true. I also knew that there would be a bit of drama before they did. And, in classic Mari Carr fashion, she made both Oliver and Gavin work for it and shocked each and every one of her readers in doing so.
No, I didn’t expect what happened and actually shed a tear or two when it did. I was awestruck that she went where she did to get to where she was going. But, it worked, it served a purpose. It brought Oliver, Gavin and Erin together in a way that probably wouldn’t have happened if this didn’t happen as well. Kudos Mari Carr for doing what you did … It took a lot of courage.
She also brought us a back-story that played a prominent role in the way Gavin acted, his reasons behind not being able to trust or give his heart. It was heart-breaking but made you understand him, his personality and reluctance to help Gavin make his dreams come true. May it trigger some people? Possibly. But, it is an integral part of Gavin and the story. Mari Carr prepared us for the drama that unfolded. But she didn’t prepare us for the patience that we were going to need to get through this story.
The road that Gavin traveled was rough and unforgiving. The road that Oliver traveled was smooth and loving. They were good for each other and Erin definitely complimented both of them and was destined to be their third. And, yes, this story was mainly about Gavin and Oliver but Erin was the glue that held them together. She was strong and fierce. She was determined and focused. She knew what Oliver ultimately wanted and her patience and love paid off in the end giving the three of them the love that they were all searching for.
The Big and Wild Dream was realized … the crisis was averted … and a bigger dream is going to be realized by the one person who truly deserves it.
