Since we at Guilty Pleasures are discussing all things paranormal in the month of October, I thought what better series to highlight. I wanted to also try something different and fun. I’ve asked friends from my book club, Facebook, and Goodreads who are known fans of the series to help me with the reviews. Without further ado, welcome our first Guest Reviewer for Dark Lover by J.R. Ward!
Review by: Victorian Maiden
The only purebred vampire left on earth, Wrath has a score to settle with the slayers who murdered his parents centuries ago. But, when one of his most trusted fighters is killed-leaving his half-breed daughter unaware of his existence or her fate-Wrath must usher her into the world of the undead-a world of sensuality beyond her wildest dreams.
J.R. Ward is absolutely brilliant in her writing which is evident from beginning to end. Clever names given to each Brother in this intricate world she has created that contained its own set of original rules, with an amazing storyline that simply weaves a perfect plot that is action-packed and just doesn’t let up for not even for a minute. Now, the series can be read individually and out of order, but I suggest they be read in the order which it they are released. Several events and storylines do develop in between books which may confuse the reader if read out of order, but this is indeed an individual and personal choice.
Bottomline, DARK LOVER did a beautiful job of setting the stage for the rest of the series and among the oh so many similar series and books out there, DARK LOVER still managed to catch my attention and was filled with that something special that set it apart from all the others in this popular genre and if the author continues to bring us this type of reading material, then we are definitely in store for some seriously hot, panty melting future reading moments. All of which I welcome with open Kindle.

TROUBLE LEAVING A COMMENT?
It has been reported that some followers cannot leave a comment. Here is what we have found out in the past:Â Are you on internet explorer? people on IE have that problem, some click several times and it finally works or they leave as anonymous, but put their name in the post. We can’t figure out why IE users have problems, google chrome or firefox users don’t have any trouble.
LOVE the review VM!! Thank you so much for being a guest reviewer!! OH HOW I LOVE THE BDB!!!
D-you know how I feel about the brothers, and Wrath is the epitome of ALPHA male. He and Beth are an awesome couple and I loved this book. I lost count how many times I’ve read this book. And Vic was right, this was the beginning of some really good reading.
V-THANK YOU for the review. Awesome job!!
I love Wrath, but I am a Z girl!!!
Everyone keeps encouraging, actually *insisting* that I read this series, and I’ll admit Victorian’s review makes me think they must be right! The only reason I haven’t popped my BDB cherry is because there are so darned many of them I have an intimidating number of books to read in order to catch up, on top of my own TBR pile. Tell me this, and anybody can answer, is there one of the BDB books that you would be able to recommend as a stand alone read for a BDB virgin that is so good I should pick it up right away?
Becky…start with this one, it’s number 1 and you will miss out on importnt information about the Brothers if you start anywhere else.:-)
I agree with D. There are ongoing side stories as well as the main story throughout the series and it’s really hard to pick any one of them and know what’s going on. The 9 books only span about a 2 year period, so there is lots happening in a relatively short period of time. This first book is REALLY good, one of my favorites of the series.
