Paranormal Romance

Ahhhhh, Lover Eternal, Rhage and Mary’s story. This was an emotional book for me and I cry every time I read it. Rhage, the resident hottie and man-whore comes full circle and makes us all proud in this 2nd installment to the Black Dagger Brother series. I love what a teddy bear he turns out to be, and I love that Mary is the only one who can tame his beast. Not a likely pair, but perfect for each other. Another great one by J.R. Ward. Please welcome our guest reviewer April and enjoy!

SUMMARY:
In the shadows of the night in Caldwell, New York, there’s a deadly turf war raging between vampires and their slayers. There exists a secret bound of brothers like no other-six vampire warriors, defenders of their race. Possessed bu a deadly beast Rhage is the most dangerous of the Black Dagger Brotherhood.

Within the brotherhood, Rhage is the vampire with the strongest appetites. He’s the best fighter, the quickest to act on his impulses, and the most voracious lover-for inside him burns ferocious curse cast by the Scribe Virgin. Owned by this dark side, Rhage fears the time when his inner dragon is unleashed, making him a danger to everyone around him.

APRIL’s REVIEW:
The Black Dagger Brotherhood was my first leap into the paranormal romance. I have to admit that into the first chapter of Dark Lover I thought I had made a mistake at reading it. The language she uses is one of its own, but I was quickly able to follow. The writing style of J.R. Ward is different and exciting. This was the story that made me LOVE the BDB. I really could not wait for Rhage and his HEA. I can say without a doubt that I am addicted to these books. I feel like a warrior myself fighting the Lessening Society!!

Rhage, aka Hollywood is one of the sexiest and most dangerous warriors in the BDB. He was cursed by the Scribe Virgin for 200 years with a beast inside of him that comes out when he least expects it. The beast is very dangerous to everyone. Rhage numbs the pain of the beast and his loneliness with endless women and all the fighting he can do.
Mary Luce comes off as a very plain, simple woman. She has a curse of her own, cancer that has recently come back. She was quick to like for me with her strong will and courage. Mary has always longed for a HEA herself. But she feels that will never happen because she has never felt beautiful.
When Rhage and Mary meet for the first time, they have instant chemistry that makes you tingle from head to toe. Rhage instantly feels a wanting for her and can’t stay away. Mary is certainly attracted to Rhage but knowing she has a short time to live her life, she tried to stay away. I wanted the happiness between them so badly. I will say it drove me crazy that Mary fought against it until nearly the end of the book. I laughed and cried thru the entire story. But the ending and the fight Rhage has for Mary is endearring and one of the best love stories within this series I have read so far. And the subplot of John Matthew made it more interesting. I can’t wait to see where his story goes. The other brothers only add more to the stories with their appeal, strength and love of each other.
You should give this series a try. Even if you normally don’t read paranormal you will enjoy the story of Rhage and Mary. The sex scenes are HOT and the brothers and their lifestyle will keep you on the edge of your seat laughing and crying with envy for a warrior of your own!!

  1. I love this series and Rhage and Mary’s story is one of my favorites. Mary not only got her man but she tamed the beast as well. Of all my books in paperback this series gets the most requests to be borrowed and I’m happy to lend it out because it is a book that has to be shared. Thanks for a good review for a really great book and series.

Mary’s unassuming character touches so many people and propels the story forward in so many ways. Not only does she tame Rhage’s beast, but because of Mary we meet Bella and John Matthew. I absolutely love Ward’s writing style ahd often just have to shake my head at her creativity and how she intertwines the characters and story line.
