Let’s Watch Christmas

Somehow I always think Christmas kind of sneaks up on me. I know it’s coming but it always seems so far away until BAM it’s December and I have three weeks to get ready. LOL

There is so much to love this time of year. It’s usually gorgeous and chilly with the added glow of thousands and thousands of Christmas lights everywhere around town. It’s hard not to think about all the memories of Christmas past and the many things we love such as baking cookies, making gingerbread houses, wrapping presents, visiting family and watching all the Christmas movies on television that we can. I binge on Lifetime Christmas movies.

Which brings me to one of our favorite Christmas Day traditions.

After the presents are all open, the family is visited and the food has been eaten we head to the nearest theater for a Christmas night movie. Every single year.

We’re big movie buffs in my house on a regular day but add in the magic of Christmas and we are so there. There is always a lot of discussion about what movie we will see and for a while I thought we’d be going to see the new Sherlock Holmes movie. (we are huge Robert Downey Jr. fans) until I took my youngest daughter to see the new Twilight movie and I saw the movie trailer for We Bought A Zoo.

I. Cannot. Wait.

My kids are no longer small so it isn’t about going to see an age appropriate movie as much as it is about me loving a heart warming funny story on Christmas Day. It sounds perfect to me and reminds me of the small zoo my daughter and I found in the middle of nowhere in Washington State just a few months ago. It was one of those drive through animal parks where all the critters surround your car and hold you hostage until you give them food. Lol Here’s a pic of me being attacked by a zebra. I laughed until I cried many times that day.

What about you? Do you ever go to the movies on Christmas Day? What Holiday Release are you dying to see?  Let us know, one lucky winner will win a copy of Eliza’s book Power Play

Power Play Summary:

She wants the escape. He wants control. They both need love.

Jennifer Croft is at the peak of her career. As a bondage model at Altered Ego, she’s become the crème de la crème of the fetish world, ensuring herself a top spot in her profession. The world is her oyster. Her personal life on the other hand… It’s not pretty. Only her fascination with pain play keeps the ghosts of her past at bay.

After tragedy sends Daegan McKenna to the South for a much needed change of pace, the last thing he expects to find is a closet submissive hiding in plain sight. She’s hot-tempered and in denial — a heady combination that brings out the dominant looking for a challenge. He’s already loved and lost more than one man should, but the haunted look in her eyes prompts him to make her an offer. He’ll indulge her darkest fantasies, if she’ll agree to give up control. Then he’ll let her go.

Unfortunately, the past never stays in the past and old insecurities cause complications neither of them wanted. Now temporary is not enough

  1. Nope I’ve never been to the movies on Christmas day, all cinemas are closed on Christmas day. No holiday release I’m dying to see…now books that I’m dying to read that would be a really long list!!!

  2. Jerry Wittle

I have never did the movies on Christmas day but did go see Breaking Dawn( loved it ) and it did seem that there are a lot of good movies out now. Enjoy your movie. Happy Holidays!

  3. I’ve never been to a movie on Christmas day. I’d rather spend the time at home w/ the family in my warm cozy clothes and under the fuzzy blankets watching movies on ‘our’ big screen. (lol) Oh, and munching too, can’t forget that! Thanks bunches…

I like to say home and watch movies though seeing a movie on Christmas day can be fun. It might be calmer and a great way to lose yourself for a few hours in a good movie.

  5. Once in a while, my family will go to the movies on Christmas. This year we’d like to see We Bought a Zoo or War Horse. Thanks for the giveaway.

Never did the movies on Christmas. I am not even sure what I would want to go and see. Now as for books there are a ton of books I would like to kick back and read for Christmas LOL

  7. I have to watch Meet Me in St. Louis & A Christmas Story during the holidays! Movies I want to see over the holidays are We Bought a Zoo, War Horse and The Iron Lady.
    Thanks for the giveaway!

  8. We haven’t been to the movies on Christmas but it sounds like a fun family tradition! I think there are a couple movies we still want to see including Arthur Christmas 🙂

  9. I’m always leary of animal movies-directors seem to feel its okay to kill off an animal when they wouldn’t do that to a human character.
My husband and I stick to the tried and true before Christmas-he watches Scrooge (the 1940s version) and I watch It’s a Wonderful Life.

  10. You know, I have never been to a Christmas day movie, but it might be a fun new tradtion.

Looking forward to We Bought a Zoo and the upcoming Stephanie Plum movie.

  14. For many years now our Christmas Day tradition has been to go see a movie too 🙂 We’ll probably see either Sherlock Holmes or the latest Mission Impossible movie.

  15. I truly don’t watch too many movies, maybe 1 per year. The only movie I’m looking forward to isn’t out until Jan and that’s Stephanie Plum. So, no, never been to the movies on Christmas. Now, curled up with a book, playing games with the kids or just exhausted from feeding 20+ folks, I’ve done all of those.

  16. I’ve never gone to a movie on Christmas Day. I really can’t think of any releases coming out that I’m dying to see. I’m more of a book nut then a movie nut. don’t watch alot of movies.

Can’t really remember going to the movies on Christmas, but I would based on the movie. I am looking forward to Sherlock Holmes this weekend. Can’t wait. lisagk(at)yahoo(dot)com

  19. I’ve never gone to a movie on Christmas day. We usually are too lazy laying around after dinner to go anywhere, so we watch a DVD. My favorite movie to watch on Christmas is Holiday Inn with Bing Crosby & Fred Astaire.

  20. Never been to a movie on Christmas dsy. I rarely go to the movies – usually wait for the dvd release.

There is a large pile of books, both print and digital I would love to put a dent in.

  22. I have never been to the movies on Christmas day. There are several movies that are out or coming out that my kids and/or I want to see but I doubt we will get a chance to go on Christmas. There is way too much going on that day to have time for a movie.

  23. We rarely go to the movies, It has to be something really good, or western before we verture out. But the “I bought a zoo” movie sounds good.
So does the book. Thanks for the giveaway.

  24. My family has never been to the movies on Christmas. Honestly, it would never cross my mind as something to do. We spend both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with both sides of our families. I’m not really a movie buff anyway, and wouldn’t have any idea what’s out there. If there was something I wanted to see, I’d rather wait and watch it at home.

    Happy Holidays!
