I LOVE ME CHALLENGE – LOVE YOURSELF

Love yourself first and everything else falls into line. You really have to love yourself to get anything done in this world – Lucille Ball

I have a bad habit of letting others get me down, make me feel inferior.  Regardless of how successful I am in doing something. I’ve been feeling that way about a few things lately but have actually identified who these people are.  I am working on cutting those kind of people out of my life, you know the kind that let their jealousy and insecurities turn them into bullies, the kind you know are smiling in your face but putting you down to others, the kind who make veiled insults through snark and innuendo. What makes me laugh, is these kind of people think they are getting away with it, but I know what’s up and this whole I LOVE ME journey is helping me identify these snakes even quicker.  Will they ever know I know what’s up…most likely not, I will politely fade from their petty, mean lives. And being the good Southern girl I am, I will pray for them 😉

Sunday evening a young lady who is a friend of my daughter’s posted this on facebook. This just proves, age doesn’t always matter when it comes to deep thoughts and good advice.

“Life if full of people who think if they compete against others they will always come out on top but what that person doesn’t know is that every minute they are focused on trying to be better than you, you have already won because being happy, knowing who you are, doing your best not to compare to them but to be more successful in your life ,loving, laughing, growing, enjoying every moment life throws at you makes you the ultimate winner and them the ultimate loser !!”  borrowed from K.R’s facebook

I think when you have the confidence in yourself to be comfortable in your skin is when you discover it’s easier to get rid of those fake people. I’m taking baby steps to get there…. but better than none :).

  2. Aww Didi, I’m so sorry you have people like that in your life. I have to say, I did a friend “reboot” a few years ago, cut out friends who were always calling me when they needed something but never had time if I needed them. I seem to collect those people a lot, I use to have a really hard time saying “no” but as I’ve aged I’m finding that little word is a lot easier to say. Your daughter’s friend is right on in her assessment of those nasty people. Keep your chin up and hang in there! We love you!

  3. I think for me….as I started to get into my 40’s- weeding out those people just kind of naturally happened. I feel like my circle of true friends has gotten smaller…..I only have the people in my life who truly mean something to me and support me in everything I do. Its unfortunate that some of the people I am just not close with were family that thought they could say what ever they wanted in the guise of “helping me”. How is hurting someone ever helping? Funny….I don’t miss those people! ~Anna~
