Description:
Ten years ago, Carson and Sam Quarry’s father died in a freak accident. Carson doesn’t believe it was any accident and makes it no secret that he believes their pack alpha, Remy Bastien, killed their father.
When Carson commits the most heinous offense a shifter can commit against another shifter, it gives Remy just the opening he needs to get Carson and Sam’s mother right where he’s always wanted her—mated to him.
The family makes it their business to keep a low profile at The Double R. This is an easy enough task before Desiree Jensen, a conservative city slicker with painful secrets of her own, lands at the ranch, too.
Despite her quiet and sheltered existence, Desiree is a lot stronger than she seems. Is she strong enough, however, to survive the fatal charms of two wolf shifters from her wildest dreams, especially when one is marked for death?
Gennie’s Thoughts:
Desiree’s Lone Wolves is the second book of the Double R series. The first book, which was not paranormal in any way, left off with us wondering what secret Carson and Sam were hiding. This book opens with Carson and Sam playing in their wolf forms and from there the reader learns about their life and what brought them to the Double R Ranch.
Desiree is Tamara’s younger half-sister, but didn’t know she had an older sister until they moved to the ranch. Desiree has always been the grounded one in contrast to her younger sister Maia who is the epitome of a free spirit in Desiree’s eyes. From the time she moved to the ranch, Desiree has been dreaming about two wolves and the faceless men. Turns out that Sam and Carson are the two who haunt her dreams in both forms. With a lot of encouragement from Maia, Desiree sets out to see about a relationship with the bothers.
The “evil” presence of Remy Bastian is felt throughout the book as he strives to right a wrong he felt Carson has not owned up to. There is a lot of character development and steaming hot sex in this book. I really enjoy this author and am excited to read the next book which I hope is Maia and Thayne’s book. If you like PNR books, ménage stories and just plain hot alpha males, than this book is for you. I don’t feel like this story needs to be read in order, if you just want to pick this book up, you need to have read Twin Cowboys for Tamara. However, if you’re a stickler for order like me, reading the first installment of this series will give you some background.
