Description:

This is the first in a series of books about the Masters of Dark Haven, a BDSM Club in San Francisco. This book, however, is set in the Sierra Nevada Mountains at a lodge run by brothers Logan and Jake. Both are Doms, and their lodge caters to groups favoring alternate lifestyles.

When Rebecca’s boyfriend talks her into vacationing at a mountain lodge with his swing club, she quickly learns she’s not cut out for playing musical beds. Now she has nowhere to sleep. Logan, the lodge owner, finds her freezing on the porch. After hauling her inside, he warms her in his own bed, and there the experienced Dom discovers that Rebecca might not be a swinger…but she is definitely a submissive.

Rebecca knows that no one can love her plump, scarred body. To her shock, lodge owner Logan not only disagrees, but ties her up and shows her just how much he enjoys her curves. Under his skilled hands, Rebecca not only loses her inhibitions, but also her heart.

Damaged from the war, Logan considers himself too dangerous to be around the enticing little sub. He sends her away for her own safety, not realizing she believes she has once again been rejected because of her size. As Logan’s mountains echo with her voice long after she’s gone, he realizes she’s taken his heart with her. But when he arrives in the city to reclaim her, Rebecca’s phone has been disconnected and her apartment is empty…

Publisher’s Note: This book contains explicit sexual content, graphic language, and situations that some readers may find objectionable: Anal play/intercourse, BDSM theme and content, exhibitionism.

Shadow’s Thoughts:
Enter Rebecca, whose boyfriend is a swinger and wants her to join him for one of his groups’ retreats at the Lodge. Unable to enter into the “swing” of things and unable to join her boyfriend in their cabin for a threesome, Rebecca beds down on the porch of the Lodge and is rescued by Logan, who brings her to his bed and begins introducing her to the lifestyle. Rebecca, always conscious of her full figure, finds her attraction to Luke baffling and his experienced lovemaking beyond anything she has ever experienced.

Logan has his own baggage, having nearly killed Jake one night after a nightmare. He doesn’t sleep with anyone for fear of a repeat.

When it is time to return to her normal life, Rebecca bravely suggests she’d like to see Logan again. Logan, barely awake from a nightmare, rebuffs her and Rebecca leaves.

Dissatisfied with her life, she quits her job, moves in with a friend temporarily and decides to see if her attraction to BDSM was to Logan himself or to the lifestyle. As she is testing the waters at Dark Haven, she spots Logan. He sets about proving to her that her weight is not a problem for him or others and that he is the one for her.

This was a satisfying read, with a feel good story, light BDSM, and characters that are both admirable but possessing human flaws. Highly recommended.

  1. This does sound good. I enjoy books were two wounded characters help each other come their issues without being to melodramatic or maudlin.

  2. Great post! Master of the Mountain is one of my favorite books by Cherise. Although, I love all of her Doms. 🙂

    Definitely recommended!
