Description:
Things take a sizzling turn when Rene Tanner finds himself neck-deep in marital unbliss. He’s fully prepared to do whatever it takes to reclaim his wife’s surrender. The way he sees it? He’s been putting her on a pedestal when all she really wanted—needed—was for Rene to put her on her knees.
Alexis Tanner has felt alone and unfulfilled for quite a while. So when her marriage counselor suggests a week of “As You Wish” therapy, she’s expecting to be wooed with chocolates and flowers. Instead she winds up in leather restraints and a silver collar. Now she must surrender to her darkest desires—or be forced to let Rene go forever.
Shadow’s Thoughts:
I requested Reclaimed Surrender looking forward to seeing something from a different point of view-a couple who have been in the lifestyle for a time, but are having problems. Unfortunately, I could not get behind the story. I didn’t particularly like either the hero or the heroine. Rene Tanner is a domineering man, not just a dominant, who has failed to meet his wife’s needs. I found him way to controlling and unable to share his feelings. That didn’t change throughout the book. Alexis Tanner is supposed to be a super smart woman but I found her weak and passive aggressive. The communication problems in their marriage are aggravated by another Dom that works with Alexis and encourages her to turn to him with complaints about her husband.
Although the sexual tension between Rene and Alexis is apparent, they don’t actually have sex until three quarters of the way through the book. And the basic lack of communication between the two is not resolved.
Riley Murphy’s work is promising and I would like to see other efforts by this author, with more likeable protagonists.

Shadow, thanks for your honest review. I like that both reviews were posted and you both make very different but good points.
I have been reading the posts backward so I was pleasantly surprised to see that there were two reviews for the book. Books are so intriguing the way they scratch one person’s itch and just cause irritation to another.
I appreciate you sharing your qualms with the book and will keep it in mind when I read it. Thanks for sharing your review!
Thank, Shadow and Alyn, for the reviews – they have helped me to decide whwther or not to read the book.
Shadow thank you for your very honest review!
I thought both of the reviews were interesting. I think I will have to read this book just to see if I agree with either one of them.
