Spring is in the Air

Living here in South Florida, we’ve really only got two seasons: summer and spring. The temperature goes from unbearable in the summer to mild and pleasant in the winter and spring. This time of year we are hitting 80 degrees, but humidity is still somewhat low and fresh breezes abound. Yes, spring is in the air, and this is about as good as it gets here in Florida. J

Metaphorically speaking, spring is a time for birth and growth. A time when new life begins to bloom. So what better time to fall in love than this?

The events in my book Blood of the Demon (Book #1 in the Demons of Infernum series) take place in March, on the cusp of winter and spring. Symbolically this represents the death of one sort of life for the hero and heroine, and the birth of another. I also used weather to symbolize the change occurring in the hero. He goes from a cold, ruthless man, one who faithfully follows the orders set out for him, to a man warmed by passion and desire. He learns that love is worth any sacrifice.

Below are the opening lines from Blood of the Demon:

She wasn’t what he’d expected.

Keegan crouched on a nearby roof, watching, waiting for her gallery to clear out. A stray gust of cold wind whipped through the night air, ruffling his jacket. It didn’t matter. Considering where he’d come from, the cold was a welcome relief.
The woman had looked fragile when he’d caught a glimpse of her through the store’s large window front. Undeniably beautiful, with her long, honey-brown hair falling in waves around her heart-shaped face—but fragile nonetheless.
It was the perfect cover. No one would ever believe what she truly was, what lived inside her. But the blood never lied. She wasn’t what she seemed.
Despite the gravity of the situation, Keegan had felt a stirring of lust rise within him at the sight of her, blindsiding him with its unexpected force. It had simply been too long since he’d gotten laid, something he’d have to remedy soon. Didn’t have anything to do with the woman. It couldn’t.
After all, she might very well be dead by the end of the day. Because if he received the order, he’d have to kill her.
I’d classify spring as my favorite season because of its representation of birth and life. Plus, springtime is so darn nice here in Florida, lol.

So what’s your favorite season and why?
Two lucky commenters will win a copy of Blood of the Demon. Winners will be selected using random.org on 4/28. To be eligible to win please fill out the form at the bottom of the page.

About the Author:
Rosalie Lario practiced real estate law for several years before finally admitting to herself that negotiating contracts wasn’t nearly as fun as dreaming up stories. As an avid reader of romances and supernatural stories, she knew she wanted to write paranormal romance.
When not writing, she enjoys spending time with her husband and son in their home state of Florida, as well as searching out things that go bump in the night. She still hasn’t found any proof of the supernatural, but she’s keeping her fingers crossed.

DEMONS OF INFERNUM – Book One
Keegan lives to exact revenge on the evil demon who sired and abused him. When his father devises a plan to bring on the apocalypse, he and his three half-brothers, interdimensional bounty hunters for the Elden Council, are charged with capturing and delivering their father for punishment.
Art gallery owner Brynn Meyers has no idea that her ability to read memories embedded in objects and drain people of their life force means she has demon ancestry. Unfortunately for Brynn, she’s also the key to raising an ancient zombie army, which puts her on every demon’s Most Wanted List.
And no one wants her more than Keegan’s father.
Keegan must protect Brynn from his father by any means necessary, but he’ll have to learn to harness the other half of his genetics—the far deadlier, uncontrollable half—when he starts to fall for the one woman standing between him and the vengeance he so desperately seeks. The one woman he’ll never be able to resist.

DEMONS OF INFERNUM – Book Two
Half-demon Taeg is desperate to free his pregnant sister-in-law, who is spellbound to an indestructible book that will create an army of the undead. He is convinced that an ancient sword can destroy the book and the spell forever, but this relic has been hidden for a millennia by a powerful glamour. The clock begins to run out on his search when an old rival goes after the book and Taeg’s family in his quest for revenge.
Librarian Maya Flores has a secret: she’s immune to magic and is well aware of the supernatural beings prowling the streets of New York City. Haunted by a brutal demon attack that took her family, she is on a one-woman mission to destroy the evil demons who did it—and any others who get in her way.
Maya is Taeg’s best hope for uncovering the sword. Unfortunately, she wants nothing more than to kill him. As he fights for her trust and to save his family, she is forced to face the truth that not all demons are evil. And the worst part? She might be falling in love with one, too.

Demons of Infernum – Book Three
After months of no work, interdimensional bounty hunter Ronin Meyers jumps at the chance to locate an incubus who’s using succubi as murder weapons. Faced with deportation to hellish Infernum if he fails, Ronin will stop at nothing to take out the incubus and anyone else involved. Even the beautiful succubus who stole his heart—and nearly his life—during the most mind-blowing hour of his existence.
Night after night, Amara and her fellow succubi are forced to extract special abilities from the strongest Otherworlders for their psychotic master’s growing collection. When the gorgeous angel-demon hybrid she believed to be dead captures her, Amara is both stunned and elated.
But the happily ever after Amara’s dreamed about will have to wait. Before she and Ronin can find salvation, they must bring down the madman hellbent on destroying everything—and everyone—they love. And Ronin and Amara are at the top of his list…

Demons of Infernum – Book Four
Biochemist Cresso Taylor lives the sort of lifestyle most men would envy—he has wealth, natural incubus charm, and more women than he can handle. But it’s not enough anymore. Not after meeting Genevieve Russell, the sexy scientist who works with him at Elcorp Laboratory. And she wants absolutely nothing to do with him.
After her fiancé broke her heart, Genevieve has had enough of womanizers. She’s determined to steer clear of sexy-as-sin Dr. Taylor, despite the fact that his incubus allure makes her want to rip his clothes off. But when a secret admirer’s affection turns to the macabre with threatening notes and grisly gifts, Cresso appoints himself her protector. As she and Cresso hunt her stalker, she discovers there’s a lot more to the sensual incubus than she ever imagined.

  1. I love the premise behind this series and all of the books sound great. Thanks for sharing the intro into the first book.

My favorite season is actually two seasons…living in the Midwest – our winters are cold and our summers are hot and muggy so my favorite seasons are Spring and Fall – because the temperatures are milder and I can enjoy going outside in the garden. I also like watching the seasons change – birth and rebirth of plants and flowers in the spring and then change to go into hibernation in the fall.

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  2. I read the first book in the series and really liked it. Just the right balance between action and romance. I’m looking forward to reading about the other half-demon brothers.

  3. Na

I really like Spring. I find the weather mild but it has the look of Summer. The flowers are blooming, the grass green and there are leaves on the tree. It’s not so hot and humid so I can enjoy the time I spend outdoors.

  4. I love Spring. The weather is mild, the temps not too hot, there is usually a nice breeze so I can open the windows and doors to air the house out after being closed up all Winter. The trees bud, the flowers bloom and there is always new hatchling bunnies in our yard.
Love the new covers. Can’t wait to read this series.

  5. My favorite season is autumn. I like the brilliant fall foliage and the fact that we get a break from the scorching summer temperatures that wilt the South.

  6. Fall is by far my favorite season. I love the colors of changing leaves, the cool breezes after the summer and the sense of “return” that comes with Homecomings, the ends of summer vacations and the lull before the holiday bustle.

  7. My favorite season is fall. It starts getting a little chilly out. Enough for a sweater or light jacket. It is harvest time and there are so many wonderful things to find at your local farmer’s market. Here on Long Island, we go to all the farmstands and pick pumpkins, apples, and go for hayrides. I also love fall because my favorite holiday is in fall, Thanksgiving.

I love Spring and Fall. I probably lean more toward Fall. I love the crisp air and changing colors of the leaves. I adore sweater weather. It is perfect for hot cider and gearing up for Halloween.

  9. I enjoy spring & fall but I think my favorite season is summer – I especially love those midsummer nights! The smell of freshly mown grass, the soothing sounds of the crickets as I lay my head down to sleep, the sight of fireflies at dusk, all bring back sweet childhood memories of a simpler time. Thank you for reminding me… (and thanks for the giveaway!)

  10. The Demons of Infernum series is so good (at least the first book that I read) and I’m really looking forward to getting to the rest.

My favorite season is Fall. I like the inbetween – not too hot and not too cold. I also don’t feel comfortable in shorts and flip flops or light clothes, and I prefer to layer. It also means that the holidays are approaching and I love the smell of apples and cinnamon in my home. Look forward to the baking too. Besides, in South Texas it’s always hot 🙁

    Thanks for the awesome giveaway!

It’s a toss up between spring and fall as to which is my favorite season. There’s something special about both. During spring everything is new, green and blooming, the air is fresh and clear. Fall has a crispness and cleaness to the air, everything is golden and colorful. Yeah, I like both seasons equally.

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  12. I love spring because it’s a rebirth of everything. Flowers start to bloom and add color. The weather starts to get a little warmer and the days get longer. It’s great to get away from the cold and yucky gray days of winter.

  14. My favorite season is autumn, when the weather gets cooler (what a relief after the scorching Florida summer), there are pumpkin flavored foods (including my favorite pumpkin pie), we have Halloween and then my birthday the next day. What could be better?

  15. I like all the seasons for various reasons and I love living now where there are four actual seasons.

This series sounds really good and I’ve put it on my wish list. Thanks for the giveaway opportunity.

  17. My fav season has to be Summer.. I love those days when it is hot enough to sit in the backyard with a good book and then those warm balmy evenings when you can sit on the back deck with a glass of wine or your fav beverage..

  20. When I lived in FL, my favorite season was winter. I hate the heat and humidity. NOW, in SE NC, my fave is Fall. I love the cool weather. The tourists start to thin out. It’s back to school, the excitement & promise of a new beginning. PLUS, it’s sweater weather. I love sweaters!

  21. Popped by to read all of your comments on your favorite seasons, and boy am I jealous. Like Catherine Lee used to, I live in FL, so our seasons are basically hot and less hot, lol. Hearing about Fall and the changing of the seasons makes me want to cry.

But then I head to the beach and take one look at the crystal clear water, and I’m reminded why I continue to live here. 🙂

  22. A huge thank you to all who stopped by and to Rosalie for a great post!

Congrats to Erin and Lauren M you have each won a digital copy of Blood of the Demon.
