Spring Makes Me Think Of…

Thanks so much for including me in this fun event! There are a lot of things I love about spring: shedding layers, feeling the warmth of the sun again on bare arms, the smell of Hyacinths, longer days, everything turning green, and the knowledge that summer is just around the corner are a few.

But spring—especially the month of May—always makes me think of something else: mothers. Partly, this is because Mother’s Day occurs the second Sunday of May. (And Happy belated Mother’s Day to all the mothers out there!) But also this is because my mother’s birthday was May 1. My mother and I were always very close, probably because for most of my life it was just the two of us. May also makes me think of mothers because it’s the month I first became one—my oldest daughter, Cara, was born on May 11—eight years ago last Friday! My mother was at the hospital the day my first daughter was born, and boy was she a great grandmother. My mom died eight months later, so she hasn’t been around to see Cara grow up, or to meet my younger daughter Julia. But I’ll always cherish the fact that while she could, she was the best grandmother a kid ever had. And that’s why spring, and May, makes me think of mothers.
Not only is love in bloom during this event, but, for me, books are in bloom this spring, too! I have three releases to share with you! Just yesterday, my new contemporary romance HER FORBIDDEN HERO released! It’s the story of a Special Forces tortured hero who falls in love with his off-limits best friend’s younger sister. On June 1, SEDUCED BY THE VAMPIRE KING releases. This is the second book in my Vampire Warrior Kings series and features the love story of a vampire king determined to never mate and a human woman who hates vampires. On July 10, WEST OF WANT, the second book in my Hearts of the Anemoi series. This is the series that had RT Magazine recently called a Favorite Returning Paranormal series, and is based on the Greek Mythology of the Anemoi, wind and weather gods (yes, I’m kind of a weather nerd – LOL!).
To celebrate, three commenters will win one of my ebooks: HER FORBIDDEN HERO, SEDUCED BY THE VAMPIRE KING, and NORTH OF NEED (Book 1 in the Anemoi series). Winners will be selected 5/18 using random.org.
So, what does spring make YOU think of?
Thanks for reading!

She’s always been off-limits…

Former Army Special Forces Sgt. Marco Vieri has never thought of Alyssa Scott as more than his best friend’s little sister, but her return home changes that…and challenges him to keep his war-borne demons at bay. Marco’s not the same person he was back when he protected Alyssa from her abusive father, and he’s not about to let her see the mess he’s become.

…but now she’s all grown up.

When Alyssa takes a job at the bar where Marco works, her carefree smiles wreak havoc on his resolve to bury his feelings. How can he protect her when he can’t stop thinking about her in his bed? But Alyssa’s not looking for protection—not anymore. Now that she’s back in his life, she’s determined to heal her forbidden hero, one touch at a time

American exchange student Kate Bordessa has fled to Russia to escape her family’s hopes that she’ll become one of the Proffered, human women who feed and mate with elite vampire warriors. But when she stumbles upon a wounded vampire in the streets of Moscow, she’s instinctively driven to protect him–and feels an undeniable spark of desire.

Grieving over the deaths of his brothers, Vampire Warrior King Nikolai Vasilyev has thrown himself into battling his enemies, focused only on vengeance. Until the attack that brought him to Kate. Their sexual attraction explodes into a night of uncontrolled passion–a night that marks them as mates. Is their connection strong enough to convince them to embrace a destiny neither of them was expecting?

Betrayal is all he’s ever known, but in her, he’ll find a love strong enough to be trusted…

When Marcella Raines’ twin brother dies, she honors his request to be buried at sea, never expecting the violent storm that swamps her boat. Recently divorced over her infertility and gravely injured, Ella still fights to survive.

Zephyros Martius is the Supreme God of the West Wind and Spring, but being the strongest Anemoi hasn’t saved him from betrayal and loss—worse, he’s sure his brother Eurus is behind it. When Zeph’s heartbreak whips up a storm that shipwrecks a human, his guilt leads him to save her, but he vows not to get involved.

Ella’s honesty, empathy, and unique calming influence attract Zeph like no other, and he finds himself wanting…everything. Ella knows Zeph’s different and fears rejection, but falls for his otherworldly masculinity and ancient, sad blue eyes. When Eurus threatens Ella, she and Zeph struggle to let go of the past, defend their future, and embrace what they most want—a love that can be trusted.

I love the smell of Hyacinths. They always make me think of Mother’s Day because I used to buy them for my mom every year until she moved away.
Happy late Mother’s Day to you also. That is wonderful that your mom was able to be there with you for your daughter if only for a short time. I’m sorry that she is no longer with you.
