Description: They’re here. They ride. The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
They’re here. They ride. The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
Born of a match between good and evil, four siblings stand between hell’s minions and everything they want to destroy. They are the Lords of Deliverance, and they have the power to ward off Doomsday…or let it ride…
Thanatos, the most deadly Horseman of the Apocalypse, has endured thousands of years of celibacy to prevent the end of days. But just one night with the wickedly sexy Aegis Guardian, Regan Cooper, shatters centuries of resolve. Yet their passion comes with a price. And Thanatos must face a truth more terrifying than an apocalypse-he’s about to become a father.
Demon-slayer Regan Cooper never imagined herself the maternal type, but with the fate of the world hanging in the balance she had no choice but to seduce Thanatos and bear his child. Now, as the final battle draws closer and his rage at being betrayed is overshadowed by an undeniable passion for the mother of his child, Thanatos has a life-shattering realization: To save the world, he must sacrifice the only thing he’s ever wanted-a family.
I remember the first time I read one of Larissa Ione’s Demonica books and how in love I was with the Sem brothers from the first moment I met them. When the series was coming to an end, I was so heartbroken and wondered if I would ever read about my beloved Demons again. My prayers were answered when the final book in the series led to a spin off. Thus, the Lords of Deliverance were born and my love for this author continued to grow. This series follows the four horsemen of the apocolypse and their effort to save the world. Reseph, is the keeper of Pestilence. His seal was broken at the end of the final Demonica book and the result was the beginning of the end.
Lethal Rider is book three of the series and it is a fast paced emotional roller coaster that kept me on the edge of my seat from the very first page. The story begins where book two left off. A member of the Aegis (a demon fighting agency) took advantage of Reseph’s brother Thanatos, the keeper of Death, who was also a virgin. The Aegis agent became pregnant with his child and went into hiding. After going on a murderous rage, the other horsemen incapacitated Thanatos for 8 months, ignorant of the fact that his child was growing inside the enemy. Now Thanatos is awake and he wants revenge for the theft of his virginity and the betrayal he suffered. What he was not expecting, was her belly swollen with his child.
Regan is in trouble. She knows that the Horseman she betrayed is coming for her and when he finds out that she is pregnant with his child, he will kill them both. Thank goodness the Aegis has kept her safe and sound for the past 8 months. Only a few more weeks are left before the child is born and she can give it to someone else to take care of. At least that is what she thought until Thanatos showed up to kidnap her. When she finds herself at his castle once again, she learns much more about the emotionally scarred warrior and how important her unborn child truly is. As the relationship between Regan and Thanatos grows, their need to protect one another does too. With the Aegis after their child to stop the apocolypse, Pestilence after their child to start it, traitors in the midst and demons and angels out for blood, no one is safe.
Wow! That is all I can say. Once again Larissa Ione kept me frantically turning pages to see what happened next. The banter between the Horsemen, and of course the Sem brothers, is always fun and the relationship that grows between Thanatos and Regan is beautifully written. I love how in awe Thanatos is with Regan’s pregnancy and how he looks at her like she is the most gorgeous creature in the world. I am still a sucker for a protective warrior that has a soft heart and the fact that Thanatos dotes on Regan’s every need is heart warming. I simply melt at how he vents his anger (let’s just say it involves some really great sex) and at the same time, how innocent he truly is when it comes time to perform. The contrast of the big, bad warrior, with the self conscious, newly sexual man is so sweet and honest.
Of course this story still begins and ends with the original cause; Reseph/Pestilence and how the child could be the final push to start the apocolypse. When delivery time comes, Pestilence is still on a rampage, and traitor’s have sabotaged every effort the Horsemen have made. It seems as though Pestilence is always a step ahead of them and if they don’t catch him soon, preventing the apocolypse may become a moot point. Decisions must be made, and lives could be lost. For Thanatos, his life is about to change forever. The question is, who will prevail and what are they willing to sacrifice to win in the end.
If you have not read this series, I would highly recommend it! It is best to start with Demonica and work your way through to Lords of Deliverence. The books are fast paced and sexy as hell. The only problem I have now, is the fact that we have to wait for the next book.
Thank you for stopping by Guilty Pleasures! Please follow us stay up to date on everything going on.
