Description:
All her life, Grace Ryan was the “fat girl.” Taunted and teased and ignored by her peers, she tried every diet ever invented to no avail. Desperate to change her life as her twenties slipped away, she decided it was time for drastic measures and had lap-band surgery. More than a year later, she’s lost 130 pounds and is venturing into the dating world for the first time. During a boat trip to Gansett Island with the new guy in her life, Grace refuses to have sex with him and finds herself abandoned without a dollar to her name at McCarthy’s Gansett Island Marina.

At home for the summer awaiting the launch of his debut CD, music star-in-the-making Evan McCarthy is performing at the Tiki Bar when he notices Grace looking lost in a sea of happy people. Evan comes to her aid and quickly finds himself smitten. But the last thing Grace needs after all she’s been through is a guy who “doesn’t do relationships.” Will Evan change his ways to win Grace’s heart?

Grace Ryan is 130lbs lighter thanks to Lap Band surgery, but still feels like the Whale she was in high school and her early adult life. Evan McCarthy is a confirmed bachelor and likes it that way. Evan is busy trying to make is dream of being a singer come true. Evan is home for his sister’s wedding and taking time off while he waits for his first CD to release around Christmas and go out on tour with the King and Queen of country music. When Evan sees Grace sitting at a table alone and crying in the bar at his family’s marina he is drawn to her and from there his and Grace’s whole lives begin to change.

This is once again a great love story between two people. I do not know how Marie does it, but I fall in love with her characters on page one and stay in love long after I am done with the book, which by the end I do not want the last page to come. Grace and Evan have such a sweet story that I did not want it to end. I love that with these books we not only get a great love story each time, but we still get to see how our other friends on Gansett Island are doing. I really liked the way Laura and Owen were introducted and of course I am counting the days until we get their story. The Gansett Island series is one of my favorite series to read. Just like the last book Falling For Love, Hoping For Love is steamier than the earlier books, but still delivers the great love story I come to expect from Marie Force. This is another great love story from Marie Force and you will not be disappointed.

Happy Reading!

  1. Good review! I think if you are overweight or have been overweight that you always see yourself as overweight. I know I’ve been working on loosing weight and while people tell me I’ve lost weight, I just don’t see it until I really get on the scale and pay attention. It’s really hard work and I think romance takes on a whole different feel/meaning when you’ve been dealing with weight issues too. I love Marie’s books but I’m behind reading this series. Thanks for sharing your review.

  2. Good Point Maria D.! I completley agree. I have struggled with weight and it definitely affects the romance in a relationship.

I haven’t read any of this series, but I will have to. So many good things are being said about it.

Loving the series – currently reading book 6.

As for weight loss, the number on the scale is lower but it takes a while for the body shape to catch up.

  4. Thanks for another lovely review, Piper! So glad you’re enjoying the McCarthy series! I wanted to let your readers know that Maid for Love, book 1, is now free on Amazon, Kobo and Apple, so it’s a great time to check out the series! Thanks again for all your support and kind words about the books!
    Best,
    Marie
