Description:
Jules has got a score to settle against the drug dealers of Denver. Vance has made it his mission that Jules won’t get dead while dishing out vigilante justice. Jules doesn’t have time for romance, she’s too busy saving the world and she enlists Zip (the gunstore owner), Heavy (an ex-PI) and Frank (a mysterious recluse) to help.
The Rock Chicks of Fortnum’s Bookstore get involved to provide romantic advice and guidance, none of which Jules accepts at first. The Hot Bunch of Nightingale Investigations adopt Jules as one of their own. Even though Jules tries to hang on to her inner Head Crackin’ Mamma Jamma, the Rock Chicks; Hot Bunch; Jules’s long-suffering Uncle Nick; Jules’s friend the rotund, African-American, Jackie-O wannabe, May; and especially Vance will stop at nothing to wear her down.
But Jules makes some bad guys pretty angry and one is dedicated to taking her out. Vance and the Hot Bunch have to pull out all the stops to keep her alive. At the same time, Jules and Vance learn the true meaning of home but once they find this precious entity they’ve been searching for all their lives, will Jules’s enemies tear it away?
Rock Chick Renegade is book 4, in what is turning into be my favorite series in the literary world: The Rock Chick series by Kristen Ashley
Hi, my name is Rhayne and I am addicted to all things Rock Chick. Seriously if you haven’t started these books yet, you are missing out!!!
Just like in books 1-3 this book is loaded with nonstop action, lots of humor, and an intriguing love story.
Jules is a social worker by day, and a head crackin’ mamma jamma (her words) by night. After finding one of the kids from the shelter dead from a drug overdose she takes it upon herself to rid the streets of Denver of all dealers, big or small. Her method of ridding the streets is simple…annoy the hell out of them long enough and they will go away. Her typical evening of harassment includes slashing tires, smoke bombs, plastic wrapped cars and on the rare occasion a Mercedes will wind up doused in canola oil inside and out.
Vance is part of the Badass Hot crew that works for Lee at Nightingale Investigations. He is the total awesome – guy package. He knows what he wants and he is not going to let anyone get in his way from getting it. He is bossy and demanding, but that is just part of his alpha man persona. He has had a rough past. You just can’t help but to root for him to find a little happiness.
After watching Jules shoot the tires out of a know dealers car, Vance sets his sights on her. And once he sets his sights on someone, he won’t take them off.
I loved Jules and Vance. They both had a lot of past baggage to overcome to be able to fight for a future. I loved the side story with the shelter kids and the drug dealers. Jules has a passion for taking care of them and making sure someone is fighting for them. I loved that Vance didn’t try to change Jules. He only tried to help her get trained to protect herself better. I loved way Vance was all badass during the day, but so incredibly sweet and romantic when cuddled up to her at night.
We get lots of action from the regular crew in this story. A few new added characters are added into the mix and they bring a new dynamic to this story.
The only thing I didn’t connect with very well was the love triangle with Luke and Vance and Jules. It didn’t work for me. I think Vance is too possessive and too alpha to put his character in that situation. I also got a little tired of Jules threatening to break up with Vance. That just may be because he has had such a rough go at life I hated for her to put him on this constant relationship rollercoaster. It wasn’t a big issue and in no way would it keep me from loving this story. These are just a few things that I personally struggled with.
Next book up is Luke Stark’s. I can’t wait.
