Description:

New York Times bestselling author Susan Mallery’s newest Fool’s Gold story proves that wild hearts cannot be tamed… Horse whisperer Shane Stryker is done with passion. This time around, he’s determined to meet someone who will be content with the quiet life of a rancher’s wife. And the fiery, pint-size redhead who dazzles him at the local bar definitely does not fit the bill. Small-town librarian Annabelle Weiss has always seen herself as more of a sweetheart than a siren, so she can’t understand why Shane keeps pushing her away. Shane has formed the totally wrong impression of her but only he can help her with a special event for the next Fool’s Gold festival. And maybe while he’s at it, she can convince him to teach her a few things about kissing on hot summer nights, too-some lessons, a girl shouldn’t learn from reading a book!

Annabelle is looking for someone who is going to love her completely for who she is and not what she is willing to change into. While sitting on the sidelines watching her best friend fall hard for Rafe of the infamous Stryker boys, Annabelle is thrilled but more entranced by Shane than anything else. Annabelle maybe inexperienced in the ways of wooing a man but she is sure that Shane can show her the way to his heart. Will the roller coaster ride known as Shane be too much for Annabelle to bear or will she show her own grit and surprise not only Shane but herself as well?

Shane Stryker just wants to settle down into the ranching lifestyle that is sure to calm his tired bones. Passion is something that has burned him more than once, and while Annabelle Weston may set fire to his blood he knows that nothing good can come from that. He needs a woman that is content with being rancher’s wife and loving a tired man looking for some healing of his broken heart. When Shane keeps pushing Annabelle away the more he starts to question everything about why he is pushing her away instead of just pulling her closer. This quiet librarian from a small town may just be the woman to sooth him in ways that no other woman could. But after pushing her away so much, can Shane convince her that he now wants her forever or will his rebuffs stand in between them forever?

As the 8th book in the fool”s gold series by Susan Mallery, the reader is treated with yet another great installment in a wonderful series. The story of Shane and Annabelle was extremely easy and fun to read that when the last page came I was sad to see it end. Susan Mallery has a way with her characters making them so life like and imperfect that the readers can’t help but fall in love with them. Having been a fan of her work since the early days, I can tell anyone that if you want a great easy read with wonderful characters by a seasoned author than this is a series for you to invest in. I can’t wait to see what else will happen next in Fool’s Gold!

I have not read any books by this author yet so I appreciate this introduction to her work. Thank you for this review. I think I would enjoy all the books in this series so I better get busy reading.

  4. Summer Nights is a great summer read. Annabelle is caring, a great friend, & so sweet! I love that Annabelle wanted to learn how to ride a horse for her fundraiser for her bookmobile. I don’t want to give away anything. I love that there is so many surprises! There is 1 thing that I absolutely love a lot & it has to do with Shane, but I am not going to give it away. Summer Nights is my favorite book in the entire Fool’s Gold series! I give 5 stars!
