Review – Scandalous Desire (Desire, Oklahoma: The Founding Fathers #2) by Leah Brooke, Lana Dare

Description:
Left with her uncle by her mother, Savannah Perry didn’t have an easy life. Overworked and emotionally scarred, she dreams of escape.

Meeting Wyatt Matlock and Hayes Hawkins, she falls under their spell, and in a night of passion, gives herself to them, never realizing that she’d been starving for love.

Ashamed and desperate for a new life, Savannah slips away from town and heads toward freedom. Before she can start a life somewhere else, though, she needs to make sure her friend is all right.

She heads to Desire, Oklahoma, a town her friend’s husbands have built, a town where people can live as they choose.

Wyatt and Hayes, though, aren’t about to let her get away. They follow her, protecting her, knowing they have to do whatever they can in order to keep her here with them forever.

Scandalous Desire started slow and really didn’t improve until about halfway through the book. That’s when the heroine, Savannah, finally quit with the nonsense of telling the heroes she didn’t want anything to do with them, then falling into their arms. This story contained way too much of that dynamic before the threesome finally talked about why she didn’t want to stay in Desire and she finally admitted she wanted Wyatt and Hayes.

Once she admitted she was afraid of what her uncle would do, the book improved, although the irony of her having to save herself after all the rules put in place in Desire to “protect” the women of the town fail isn’t lost on the reader. Savannah finally proves herself to be of strong character and her men help her through her many issues.

The sex scenes are hot, the story comes to a satisfying conclusion, and we learn more about why Desire is the way it is, but the slow start, push away-come hither game and discrepancies between the idea of the town and reality keep this from being one of the author’s best books.

Good review! It sounds like this book is pretty much just average – good and bad – I prefer more good than bad but do like to read series in order so I guess I’ll have to tuff it out…lol

I agree with you Shadow, I’ve been reading this series (both contemporary and founding fathers) since it’s inception and this wasn’t one of my favorites. It was good, just not as good as some of the others. I always appreciate a honest review, it’s what makes me love this site so much!

I really enjoyed this 1st book in this series and I’m looking forward to reading this one. Savannah had it really rough with her uncle and she deserves her HEA.
