We are excited to welcome Stephanie Julian to Guilty Pleasures!

R:  What made you want to get into writing in the first place?
S: I’ve always been a reader and when I got old enough to realize that books just didn’t evolve from thin air, that someone actually had to write them, I wanted to be one of those people who wrote the stories.

R: This series is such a unique spin on the goddess, what sparked your interest in this area?
S: I’ve always been a mythology geek. I took four years of Latin in high school and briefly considered becoming a Latin major in college. I took as many mythology courses in college as I could manage as an English major. Like I said, geek.

R: You characters for Rom and Remy are such alpha males, and yet complete opposites of each other, are they based on people from your life?
S: Not really, no. They’re definitely products of my imagination. But they absolutely have attributes of people I know. I have a husband and two sons, a dad and a brother, a brother-in-law and father-in-law, eight uncles and 13 male cousins. That’s a lot of male influence.

R: Do you have a set playlist or “mix tape” of music that is your special writing music?
S: No, but I listen to a lot of hard rock when I’m plotting. The heaviness of the beats fits my storylines. I love Avenged Sevenfold, Slipknot, Bullet For My Valentine, Disturbed, Egypt Central, The Used, Five Finger Death Punch, and pretty much anything they play on Sirius Octane. And the guys are definitely not hard on the eyes, muscles and tats and oh, my.

R: Some authors get inspiration from life or from other books around, how do you find inspiration for your works?
S: Sometimes it’s something as simple as seeing a guy pushing a stroller with a baby strapped to his chest. Or it could be a picture of a tomb painting with a black-skinned demon. Sometimes the scene just pops into your head. That’s the best.

R: I loved the character of Amity, not only her compassion but also her strength and sex appeal. Will she make more appearances later in your other works?
S: Absolutely. I love to revisit characters because, like real life, a character’s story doesn’t end at the last page of the book. Right now I’m working on Amity’s sister Kari’s story, so of course Amity will show up.

R: When writing the character of Charun, did he start out as a lonely character or did you want to portray him that way for the purpose of “Goddess in the Middle”?
S: I knew what his character arc was going to be when I started the series. And I’m not done with Charun yet. He and Perrin have a rocky road ahead.

R: The world you created of the gods, goddesses, and lucani was so realistic and intricate. Did the characters create the world themselves (as many authors tell me, the characters and world were a package deal in my head) or did you create the world than the characters just fit the mold?
S: Package deal. The characters formed as I created the world. Because I was dealing with mythology , there were already built-in characters that I knew I was going to use. Then it was just a matter of finding the personalities to fit the character.

R:  I really enjoyed “Goddess in the Middle”, as a third in your goddess in series. What can we look forward to in the future.
There are lots more goddesses. The Etruscans had a full pantheon of major and minor deities and they all have stories. Like I said earlier, next up is Kari’s story. And I’m really looking forward to writing Nortia’s story. She’s such a complex character.

Thank you so much for having me over to talk.

R: It was a pleasure Stephanie.  Thank you for spending time with us!

GODDESS IN THE MIDDLE Blurb:

TOGETHER. THEY CREATE THE MOST POWERFUL MAGIC OF ALL ...

Romulus and Remus are sexy werewolf cousins with an unbreakable bond. When they meet beautiful goddess Amity and save her from an encroaching demon, they discover that the three of them together are way more powerful than any of them could ever have imagined. And they’re going to need that power to overcome the forces that are determined to steal Amity’s magic and destroy the two men. As different as night and day, and each an amazing man in his own right, Rom and Remy make all of Amity’s deepest fantasies come true .

Thanks for the great interview! As for which god or goddess is my favorite, I would have to go with Neptune just because I’m such a water person and he’s the god of springs and wells (basically water!). Thanks for the chance to win Goddess in the Middle!

I’ve always been partial to the naughty gods and goddesses. I like the troublemakers and tricksters. Like Loki.

  12. Bee

I’ve always liked Athena, though I’m not sure if it’s just because I have a thing about logic and wisdom…

  13. Wow, you ladies have come up with some great answers. In Greek and Roman Mythology I’m partial to Bacchus and Dionysus. He’s a party god, always looking for a good time.

Thanks for such a fun interview. I’m going to go with Cupid as my favorite God. If he shot his arrow at you, then you fell in love with the next person you saw.

I’m hoping to get lucky here, July 21st is my birthday. You’re a new Author to me, and I love finding new Authors and genres of books to read.

    Hi Stephanie,
thank you for the chance at such a great giveaway. i love the cover and the book sounds wonderful.
my favorite “goddess” was actually one of the muses. Erato was the Muse of lyric love poetry, hymns and wedding songs. Erato was the Muse and defender of love affairs and its said that she was the one who actually invented the art of dancing.
Erato is mostly depicted holding a guitar or a lyre in her hands. so every time your inspired to sing that sing song (you know the one) it’s because of her.also erotic romance writers would be no where without her as she is also responsible for erotic poetry. LOL!
