In celebration of the release of ONE NIGHT RODEO we are chatting about some of our favorite things in the Blacktop Cowboy series.

Rhayne:
One Night Rodeo is a story about two people who we have followed through the entire series. They finally get a chance to stop being side characters and take center stage. The build up with them has been a three book journey so far. I for one can’t wait to see their performance. There is so much chemistry between them, it’s guaranteed to be explosive!

Slick:
I loved Harper and Bran’s story because they seemed like such a mismatched pair and OMG the fainting goat scene, funniest moment EVER in a roamance book. I can’t wait for Kyle and Celia’s story becauuse these two have been dancing around each other for years and I feel it in my bones that they are going to be an one of the most explosive couples Lorelei has ever written!

KcLu (and DITTO from Gennie G):
I for one fell in love with Kyle in book one, and he hasn’t let my heart go. I absolutely loved the candle wax scene in Corralled. It was beyond hot to mix the elements of hot and cold to get that much pleasure!!! And LAWD that teaser at the end of Wrangled and Tangled has been driving me crazy since I read it. Lorelei James is a sadistic genius for doing that to us. LOL

Charnel:
i’ll just say I will never forget where I was when I read the fainting goat scene. sitting in bio class, sneaking reading cause I could wait to class was over. When I read the goat scene I totally busted out laughing and absolutely nothing’s funny in anatomy and physiology.

DiDi:
I love the entire series. It has all the Lorelei James magic, but is totally different than the Rough Rider series.  Tierney and Renner have some great tit for tats in Wrangled and Tangled.  Bran and Harper are incredible together.  Hank, Lanie and Kyle had all those melt the plastic on my kindle scenes.

I have been waiting for Kyle’s HEA since Corralled. He needed to grow and mature some in Corralled, but he still stole my heart and ladies in One Night Rodeo he became one of my all time favorite LJ characters.

Carys:
Omg I loved Harper and Bran, and those fainting goats are hilarious!!! I’ll never forget chatting with the hubby after reading that book and he told me that he wanted to get some special goats when we get some property! I busted out laughing and asked him if he was talking about fainting goats. He couldn’t figure out how I knew about them since I don’t know much about livestock. He told me if wanted to run around screaming Boo at them. He is so weird!!! I told him if we got the goats I was naming them Harper and Bran!!

Amanda:
I would have to say that Saddled and Spurred is my favorite. I love Bran and Harper. I love Harper’s spirit to get things done. She doesn’t get by on her looks but her work ethic. I still see her waving to Bran as they check fence lines as they ride the ATVs. And the scene where he is trying really hard not to see her asleep in his bed only in her bra and panties. Such memorable scenes in my mind.

Kimber:
My thoughts about One Night Rodeo are a lot like Rhayne’s –We’ve gotten to know both characters, and knowing Lorelei was going to pair them, made it that much harder to wait because HOW could she put the two people who CAN’T get along with each other as the PERFECT pair. I can look back on all the snide remarks made by both of them over the last few books and you knew fireworks of the good and bad kind would happen before we got their HEA. I honestly didn’t know how she could pull this one off. BUT, as usual, it was brilliant how it all came together.

The INFAMOUS Goat scene (thank you Slick)
“Bran grabbed her sleeve, forcing her to look at him. “What in the hell is goin’ on with you?” “What is wrong with me? What is wrong with your goats? They’re evil! And they’re laughing at me! Look at their smug little goat faces! Go on. Look at them!”

― Lorelei James, Saddled and Spurred

About the series

ONE NIGHT RODEO (Blacktop Cowboys #4)
All it takes is one night to change a cowboy’s life…

Barrel racer Celia Lawson knows better than to tangle with bull rider Kyle Gilchrist. The sexy cowboy’s love ‘em and leave ‘em ways have earned him a reputation on the rodeo circuit, and he’s always seen her as his best friend’s kid sister. But after one wild, tequila-fueled night, Celia wakes up to find out she’s gotten herself hitched—to a man she never should have married!

When Celia insists on an annulment, Kyle has no good reason to say no—except he isn’t ready to let go of his new bride. But then Kyle inherits a sprawling Wyoming ranch, and seizes the opportunity to enlist Celia’s help. She agrees to lend a hand—with two conditions: He has to get up to speed as a rancher within six months; then they’ll get a divorce. And their marriage will be in name only.
Kyle gives in to Celia’s demand, yet he’s ready to prove to her he has what it takes to turn their one night rodeo into a lifetime of love….

WRANGLED AND TANGLED (Blacktop Cowboys #3)
Wrangling a sweet-talkin’ cowboy can be dangerous business…

The West was not so wild for Janie Fitzhugh. Living with her rancher husband, Abe Lawson, in rural Wyoming nearly broke her spirit, so she left. But eight years later, she returns to Muddy Gap to take a job at a new resort. When an unexpected danger arises, Abe seizes the chance to protect Janie and prove he’s a changed man.
Janie’s employer at the Split Rock Ranch and Resort, Renner Jackson, has gotten himself tangled up in a devil’s bargain trying to finish the construction. His new partner’s daughter, Tierney Pratt, is a spoiled daddy’s girl and off-limits–no matter how drop-dead gorgeous she is. But Tierney’s got her own secret reasons for keeping the rough-and-tumble cowboy at a distance.

When things get down and dirty at the resort, Abe and Renner must saddle up and fight to rope in the women they can’t imagine living without.

SADDLED AND SPURRED (Blacktop Cowboys #2)
This beauty is no greenhorn–and she’s about to rope the man of her dreams.

Cattleman Bran Turner is left shorthanded during busy calving season when a bull tramples his hired hand. Rural Wyoming isn’t exactly a hotbed of qualified candidates, and the only applicant for the position is the pampered town beauty, Harper Masterson. The curvy cowgirl gets under Bran’s skin at every turn, but with no other options, he reluctantly hires her.
When sexual sparks ignite, down-on-her-luck Harper enjoys convincing Bran that not only is she capable of pulling calves, feeding live-stock, and handling backbreaking ranch chores, but she doesn’t mind getting down and dirty, either. Harper also discovers the hotbodied cowboy isn’t all work and no horseplay…and he’s got more than a few tricks up his sleeve. Bran will learn quickly that Harper is no country mouse—and that she might just have what it takes to stick around for the long haul.

CORRALLED (Blacktop Cowboys #1)
In the rodeo arena, all you have to worry about is surviving. But in the arena of love and ecstasy, things get much more complicated.

Sports therapist Lainie Capshaw has been rehabilitating injured cowboys long enough to know that a charming western drawl combined with a fine physical form doesn’t mean you fall for the man.

So no one is more surprised than Lainie when she finds herself involved with not one, but two different men: Hank Lawson, a bullfighter, and Kyle Gilchrist, a bull rider. Lainie feels guilty about her two-timing, but it doesn’t keep her from doubling her fun-that is until Hank catches her with Kyle.

She’s shocked that Hank isn’t mad. But she’s more shocked to learn Hank and Kyle are hometown buddies. But when the men offer to share her-in every way-she knows that she’s going to have to choose the one man who can give her the ride of her life.

I am a Lorelei junkie but I have to admit, I have not been able start this series like I had planned before this book came out:( I have come to the conclusion that pain meds from surgery and reading don’t mix well!! Hopefully that will change tomorrow and I can get back to normal and my very large tbr pile!! Thanks!! Shannon

  2. *hanging my head in shame* How have I missed the Blacktop Cowboy series? I’ve read a few of her other books, but these somehow flew under my radar. Looks like I need to remedy that. 🙂 Seeing as I haven’t read them… I’m going to have to judge the books by their covers and all I can say is yummy!

  3. Angie M

This is a difficult question because I haven’t read One Night Rodeo yet but for now I’d have to say Bran and Harper are my favorite characters in the series because even though they seem completely wrong for each other, I was rooting for them from the beginning of the book!

    Thanks for the awesome giveaway!

  4. KandyMcKay

OMG! I have waited for Kyle and Celia’s story honestly since “Corralled”. I can’t explain it other than Lorelei’s writings draw me in and I have to read each one at least three times, then BAM…I knew I wanted Kyle to have someone and Hank’s baby sister had to be the one. After becoming obsessed with the Rough Rider series, I didn’t think I could possibly get so engrossed in another series but I’m happy to say…I LOVE IT! I live smack dab in the middle of nowheresville where nary a cowboy in sight, all of L’s books bring the sighhhh cowboy factor right into my heart. I’ve had alot of sickness and tragedies in my life the past several years and I can honestly say through L’s books, I can escape to a place where life seems real and always ends happy and shewwwweeee are the middle parts yummy! Thanks Lorelei for bringing another awesome work into my life and thanks to the ladies at Guilty Pleasures for all the great suggestions!

  5. My obsession with LJ’s novel started with Saddled & Spurred, yet my absolutely favorite out of the Blacktop Cowboy Series, has to be Wrangled & Tangled. I’ve read it at least 5 times and every time I’m bored with some other novel from a completely different author, I tend to go right back to W&T. . LJ’s writing is INSATIABLE!! Thank You for writing about Sexually Ravenous Cowboys!!

  6. Lorelei has knocked it out of the park with her last two books, Kissin’ Tell and One Night Rodeo. Kyle is up there as one of my top LJ men =)

Thank you all for stopping by and Good Luck!

  7. Karen H

I love Lorelei James cowboys! They are such multi-dimensional heroes and she always manages to come up with some surprises!

  8. I love, love, love this conversation! It’s like sitting down and talking to all of you. Thanks for another great feature on Guilty Pleasures. And to those who haven’t read any of the Blacktop Cowboys series, what are you waiting for? Get. The. Books. Now!!

  9. JessieO

I have been waiting for Kyle’s story…he will probably bump Hank out of my coveted favorite spot. I don’t know what it is about Hank…but I just loved him and Lainie’s dynamic.

    Thanks for the awesome giveaway!

  10. Renee Mulholland

I feel like a kid waking up on Christmas morning 🙂 I can’t wait to tear into the pages of ONR.

  11. Annette

I’m half way thru Corralled and have read Wrangled and Tangled. Just love the stories. The connections between the characters are great. And the hot cowboys and their strong women who keep them very happy! So glad I found LJ’s books.

  12. Shelly

Loved Bran and Harper and the goats scene was hilarious. Tierney and Renner had some great scenes as well. Love the Blacktop Series and looking forward to the rest of the stories to come from there as well. Happy Release Day 🙂

  13. Meredith

I loved Bran and Harper! SAS is a favorite, and I really enjoyed all the humor and fun between them.

  14. Crystal

I love this series!!!!! Harper and Bran and the fainting goats are my favorite scene to date. Can’t wait till I get home so I can start reading!!! Damn job!!! LOL

  15. Sharon

It’s so funny because when the first book in this series came out I read it and I didn’t immediately fall in love like I “thought” I had with the Rough Rider series and then I remembered that although I liked Long, Hard Ride it was the third book Cowgirl Up and Ride that hooked me on the RR series. I’ve since re-read this series three times and each time I read it I love these characters more and more. While Bran and Harper are my favorite couple, I adore that even though Bran is all alpha male he has a geeky side and Harper despite being a beauty queen is so down to earth, I also love Tierney and Renner. Oh and the fainting goat scene with Harper and Bran, classic!!! But here’s is one of my favorite quotes featuring Tierney and Renner:
“The more she stared, the happier his dick was to swell with pride, doing a stellar flagpole imitation.
About a year later, Tierney dragged her gaze away from his groin and looked him in the eye. “This is why I was against casual Thursdays. There’s always that one person who takes it too far.”
― Lorelei James, Wrangled and Tangled

I mean seriously, how can you NOT love Lorelei James!!!

  16. RachaelM

I love the sexy cowboys in this series. I love them all and it is too hard to pick just one favorite. I would love to win the awesome prize pack. Thanks.

  17. Sharon

Love all or Lorelei’s books and I’m sure ONR will be no exception. She is the one author I always look forward to reading!!

  18. Slick~Guilty Pleasures Reviewer

I just stopped in to check on the website before I lock myself away with my copy of One Night Rodeo. Having read all of Lorelei’s books multiple times I’ll admit I’ve really been waiting for this story. I “knew” in the first book these two would wind up together and I know it’s going to be explosive. I have my oven mitts on just in case my Kindle catches on fire!!

  19. Suzanne

I think the hoitest scen was in Saddled & Spurred with Bran and Harper’s anal scene. Lorelei always puts the best of writing out. Mrs. Condit gave a great review that this is her best love story in One Night Rodeo, I’ll give agreement once I read the story.
Suzyrph@charter.net Kindle E-mail and Facebook. My security knocked out the fill in info because it had no certificate. It is another home run Lorelei!!!!!!!

  20. Mikala

This is the first book of L’s I didn’t preorder. I knew if I preordered it I would be usless at work so I have to wait till I get home to download and read it. I’m beyond ready to fall in love with Kyle.

  21. June

I have not read any of the Blacktop Cowboys books yet. I am still trying to get caught up on the Rough Riders series (only got started this year LOL).

  22. Landry

My finances have kept me from buying the books in this series but I have read all the Rough Riders and I do love Lorelei’s books. I have read some of the Blacktop books at B&N and was really taken by Kyle. I do look forward to reading this series as soon as I can. The giveaway is fabulous and I appreciate the opportunity to win!!

  23. ClaudiaGC

My absolute favorite so far is Bran’s and Harper’s story! I didn’t start reading the Blacktop Cowboy series right away. so when I did read them I could read the fiirst three books right after another and I could not get enough! Now I really want Kyle’s and Celia’s story! 🙂
    Thank you for the giveaway!

  24. Sophie E.

One Night Rodeo has definitely tied Wrangled and Tangled as my favorite BTC book. What I love about all Lorelei James’ books is the way the characters capture me and make me care about them to the point where I’m sobbing over their pain. But at the same time the stories are always certain to have fantastically funny scenes like the goat scene from Saddled and Spurred. The sexiness of the stories never disappoints and usually turns out to be pretty darn inspiring 😉
While ONR and W&T are my favorite BTC books my favorite character is probably Bran because while he is a million different kinds of sexy he’s also not that sure about his sexiness and boy, is that a turn on! I really love Celia and she really wormed her way into my heart 🙂

  25. Timitra

My favorite book in the series so far in the series Wrangled and Tangled, my fav couple is Renner and Tierney…can’t say it enough I just love this series!!!

  26. Rhonda B

I loved Renner and Tierney. I have to say in additon to the great story and hot smexin, i just love the witty banter among L’s characters. I have a feeling k and c wont disappoint with the banter

  27. Larri S

I think this series gets better with each book.! I really liked each one more than the last, but I loved ONR! It is one of my favorite LJ books, ever. Kyle and Celia are so great together-funny, sweet, romantic and very hot!

  28. elaing8

I haven’t read this series yet.So I can’t answer your question.I do have 2 of the books in the series though.Just need to find the time to read them. Thanks for the great giveaway

  29. AJM720

I own the first three Blacktop Cowboys books but love Saddled and Spurred the most. Harper faced a lot of adversity, held her family together, and finally made herself a priority. You go, girl! 🙂

  30. MaryC

I have been waiting for the realease of ONR before starting the series – great timing as I will have the weekend off to read.

Love the Rough Riders – hope to eventually get a hard copy of the series.
    Thanks for the giveaway!

  31. Cec

Waiting patiently for my ONR book to come in the mail. Doesn’t matter, good things take time! I have the first three books in the series and love them all! I loved the fainting goats scene…hillarious! i also reading loved reading about, Bran and Harper, great couple!

  32. Tiss Treib

I can’t pick just one favorite. I LOVE every one of LJ’s Blacktop Cowboys books so far, Haven’t started ONR yet, but well Friday. Why so long, I want to be able to read, not read and put down, read and put down. LOL. L has a way with all of her charactors, they each have their special meanings to me. They are each special in their own way. Thank You L for all your great writings.

  33. Kathleen O

  35. Slick~Guilty Pleasures Reviewer

So great reading everyone’s comments! I read One Night Rodeo in 6 hours, I could not put it down and as I suspected it was hot as hell!! Love, love Kyle and Celia…Lorelei has outdone herself with this book!

  36. Ellen

I have read all of the Rough Rider series but I have not gotten around to reading the Blacktop Cowboys series. I really want to but there is only so much I can justify spending on books. : (

  37. Julianne

First, you gotta love those covers! Then the titles, they are really catchy. Next, the books are about cowboys, what’s not to like about that? Hot, hard bodies, hats and boots, and ropes, don’t forget those ropes. I love a man who knows his way around a rope. 🙂

  38. sienny

i got seduced by the cover.. that’s why i have this series on my waiting list. i hope i can read them soon.

  39. Jessie L

OK, that’s it! I’m heading over to Amazon (yes, I see the buttons in the post) & downloading one or two books from this Blacktop series. After reading the comments, I’m sold. I have read some of Ms. James’s Rough Rider series & enjoyed those. So I know I will not be disappointed. Another little push to start this series, was the comment about the goat scene. I can relate to goats, because I did have the pleasure of helping my mother for a few years raising them. Now, I know I had to move away when I woke up in the middle of the night, out of a dead sleep (doors/windows shut) & heard one of expectant moms bleating. The barn wasn’t close to the house either & my bedroom was on the opposite side of the house. Anyway, had to run up 2 flights of stairs to wake my mother, so we could go help. Needless to say, we delivered a healthy baby goat @ 3am & it was like a 3 stooges movie in the barn with the other goats & a couple of other babies. They thought it was party time.

  40. Lisa Guertin

i have loved every one of Lorelei’s books so far. I think Saddled & Spurred is my favorite BC book thanks to Bran & Harper and the fainting goats. What’s not to love?

  41. Jen B.

My love for these books isn’t about one character but about how all of the characters interact. Even though the book is about two particular characters, all of the characters are part of the story. Plus, they all read so smoothly. I love a book that just flows off the page.

  42. sue

I have been waiting for Kyle’s story… I just have to change my name to celia so I can really import myself into the story. I have wanted Kyle to have a happy ending ever since he lost Lanie. What I would give to have a signed LJ book!

  43. Annette C,

I loved, loved, loved Kyle & Celia’s story!! What’s not to love with a hunky sex on a stick cowboy and a fiesty, strong cowgirl? The sex scenes are as usual out of this world! It was great to finally read their story about their journey to their HEA. Every new book LJ writes is better than the last one and I can’t wait to read the next one!

  44. Janet B

I have read all the RR and Blacktop Cowboy books and would love to win this package.
I just love how Lorelei writes.

  45. Barbara Kelleher

I am always looking for new authors to read. This sounds like a good series. I would love to win these books to start me off a new reader of this author.

  46. Carin W
