Halloween and Romantic Suspense
What’s the first thing that comes to the minds of many Americans when they think of October? The last day of the month, Halloween. There’s something about scaring yourself silly that appeals to adults and children. If the focus on Halloween isn’t enough to convince you of that (after all, it could be about the candy), think about some of the staples surrounding the holiday. Horror movies, haunted houses, frightening masks and decorations…all are designed to scare people in a fun way.
When I consider all of this, my mind shifts to one of my favorite genres: romantic suspense. Every book contains scenes to get your adrenaline pumping, and you get the added bonus of a romance to melt your heart. There’s nothing quite like sitting down with a good book and worrying about whether the characters will survive the latest danger long enough to admit their attraction to each other, share that first kiss, or get their happy-ever-after ending.
To me, one of the greatest combinations in a book is romance and danger. If an author can take me to the edge of my seat in suspense on one page and have me sighing at the tenderness of the romance on the next page, I’m a happy reader. To be able to experience the story alongside the characters rather than just reading the words on the page is a sign of great writing. If that story happens to include the threat of serial killers, stalkers, terrorists, or any number of other types of villains, so much the better.
The brisk fall air, Halloween, and leafless trees outlined against the sky all add up to make October a great month to get your heart pounding with adrenaline. For romantic suspense authors, the month is rife with inspiration. After all, what better way to get your creative juices flowing that to visit a haunted house and ponder what could happen to a character in one?
Whether you write romantic suspense or just love to read it, one of the best ways to unwind and warm up after a long Halloween evening of costumed trick-or-treaters and chilly air is to settle into your favorite reading spot with a romantic suspense novel and a cup of your favorite hot drink.

Riley’s Mission Blurb
Trapped in a flooded hospital, former Israeli operative Jade Rosen discovers she’s not alone. One of the other stranded patients is none other than the cold-blooded killer she’d left behind in a Syrian prison, the man who had forced her to leave everyone she loved behind and go into hiding.
Indiana National Guardsman Riley Jackson is on a mission to locate and contain a cunning terrorist whose guards aren’t responding. He finds more than he bargained for when the woman he loves appears out of nowhere, desperately ill and once again needing his protection.
Will Jade and Riley finally find their happy ending, or will they pay the ultimate price at the hands of a man determined to see Jade dead?

I’m most comfortable reading my Kindle on my chaise lounge off the side of the livingroom. Very comfy and cozy. However, I will read anywhere I get the chance.
