Once again Mari Carr has given us an emotionally charged piece of beauty! ~ Guilty Pleasures
Description:
What if love can’t heal all wounds?
After too many years of secretly loving her best friend, Zoey realizes she’s been shortchanging herself. It’s time to take action. This New Year’s Eve heralds the year she’s going to tell Rob the truth. Even if he is on the road, reaching for musical stardom with his band.
Her plan is derailed when she discovers a lump in her breast—and it’s not “nothing to worry about”. How can she ask Rob to take a chance on love when her future is so uncertain?
Rob has spent his entire life chasing his dream, but the moment he hears Zoey’s voice on the phone, he realizes he’s been running the wrong race. Zoey never sounds like she’s been crying. Ever. Without a second thought, he books a flight for home, determined to give her everything she needs. A shoulder to cry on, a hand to hold…and nights of intensely emotional, passionate sex.
His biggest challenge, though, is convincing his best friend that he’s in it for the long haul. Because he finally knows what he wants, and it’s not fame and fortune. It’s her—and her love.
Product Warnings
This book runs the emotional gamut between scorching-hot passion and the pain and fear associated with cancer. Keep a box of tissues next to your glass of ice water.
As I’ve said before, I’m a huge Mari Carr fan. Fix You is the start of a series that is going to be amazing if they are all as good as this one. Once again Mari has given us an emotionally charged piece of beauty!
Zoey has a great life, but something is missing. Every Thursday she gets together with her girlfriends that live in the same block as her for wine and lots of chit chat. The book opens on them together for New Years Eve, and has each of them making a vow to give certain things a second chance. Zoey keeps hers to her self she is going to finally tell her best friend and roommate Robbie that she has been in love with him for years. He just has to come home with his band from touring first, but before that can happen the rug gets pulled out from under her. How can she tell him she loves him when she has to fight literally for her life?
Rob is living what he thought was his dream come true, but in reality the road really sucks. So when he gets a weird phone call from Zoey, he rushes home to see what is really wrong with her, and tell her that he loves her and has for years. When he gets home Zoey gives him her news, but instead of running for the hills he stands right by her.
Oh wow!! I don’t know if I can begin to do this book justice. It is truly an emotional roller coaster!! I cried from the beginning to the end!! Rob is beyond great!! I love that he stands by Zoey through it all even when she tries to push him away. I absolutely love that he shaves his head with her. Cancer is one of those things that has touched all of our lives be it someone in our families or really close friends, and Mari captured the battle so well. I can’t recommend this one enough, and I am waiting on pins and needles for book two!!!
