My wicked self really loves when two people meet, have an instant attraction, fall into bed, and atruegemawardthen realize they’ve just broken one of their “rules” about not dating their sister’s friends or their friend’s brother. First off I’ve always been a believer that there are some rules that are made to be broken and this is one of them even though sometimes it can be messy. In this case, it was messy but it was also sweet, comfortable, and incredibly sexy.

When Nichole Daniels meets a mystery man at a party she finds herself wanting to end her three year dry spell and get back into the dating game or at least the sex game. Garrett Carter is finally to the point in his life where he can slow down a little and enjoy living. At a friend’s party he finds himself enamored with a woman for the first time in a very long time.

Both of these characters were so enjoyable; I loved their sense of humor, their reasoning for why they could yet should not see each other, and the way they discussed their “relationship” like they were in contract negotiations. This is one of those books where I FELT their attraction, the heat, the longing. I really admired the fact that they were both concerned about how their relationship would affect their relationship with Garrett’s sister, Maeve, who is Nichole’s best friend.

The fact that they both went into this relationship with the understanding it was to be temporary, for them to have some fun, and then get out before either one could get serious was interesting. They decided they would be able to do this and remain friends afterwards. They have their reasons for deciding this; very valid reasons on both parts, unfortunately neither one considered that there are some things you can’t plan for like falling in love. I love that these two talked about everything, discussed the ins and outs of their relationship and all aspects of their lives. I really felt like I knew them both well and I think because of that; watching them go through the good and the bad hit me hard. I was extremely emotionally invested in these two and shed quite a few tears.

This is an emotional yet steamy romance filled with characters you can’t help but love, a well developed plot, and great dialog. Sometimes you read a book and you fall in love with a character, or the story, or some other aspect of the book…Once Is Never Enough is the total package and is not to be missed!
