This is like reading a book and putting a puzzle together at the same time. The way it all pieces together and the way the past and present connects is simply brilliant. ~ Rhayne, Guilty Pleasures

“The truth is buried in her memories. Unearthing it could kill them both. ”

FBI Agent John Daly has spent twenty-three years studying psychology, trying to understand how his father wound up in prison, convicted of a brutal murder.

And then he gets the letter. Telling him of evidence tampering. Telling of the sole witness, a six-year-old girl who’s now a twenty-nine-year-old school director. Somewhere, buried in her memories, is the identity of the real killer.

John knows he has no business going undercover to get close to Hannah Duncan, but blood is thicker than the ink on his paycheck.

Hannah is trying hard not to fall for the writer researching an article about her school, but John is breaking down every defense she’s built since her mother’s murder and her father’s rejection. Igniting a flame that burns brighter and hotter than any she’s felt before.

Someone is watching, leaving her roses and cryptic notes. And as the similarities between Hannah’s stalker and her mother’s killer become increasingly alarming, John must decide which means more to him: his father’s freedom…or Hannah’s love.

Warning: Contains a deeply wounded hero and heroine who, together, are greater than the sum of their scars. Breath-stealing emotions and heart-pounding suspense could cause an attack of whitened knuckles. Best read under the covers with a flashlight.

This is the first book I have read of Ms. Barrons and let me just tell you she knows how to pull a reader into a world full of secrets, suspense, heartbreak and passion. This book had all of the elements I crave in a romantic suspense.

It’s hard to delve into the story too much without giving away any spoilers. I will say when I started reading I felt like details were coming at me from all sides. It almost felt overwhelming at times while the story was setting up. After reading the first few chapters, once the back story was laid out and the information is in place, I had a different perspective and it completely consumed me.

Hannah and John are amazing together. You can’t help but to root for them to stay together, but the way the story is told, it makes it almost impossible to see how they can. There is too much history, too much hate, and too many secrets. John is willing to use anyone and go any length to free his father from prison. He knows his best and quite frankly only chance is to uncover Hannah’s memories from a crime committed 23 years ago. Hannah is just looking for someone to finally love her. She has been unwanted and alone most of her life. She believes John came into her life to help at the school and can’t ignore the burning desire she has for him immediately. John didn’t expect to have feelings for Hannah. It was one thing to use her however he needed as long as it served his ultimate goal, but now his heart is involved, and she is in danger, it’s time for a change of plans.

This is like reading a book and putting a puzzle together at the same time. The way it all pieces together and the way the past and present connects is simply brilliant. The storyline is original and the emotion portrayed through the characters is genuine and heartfelt. If you love suspense book with a sexy passionate story entwined throughout you will love this guaranteed page turner.
