The characters were flawed but it was hard not to love them, their conversations were humorous yet deep, and while the story may have been somewhat familiar it was different enough to be completely engaging. ~ Slick, Guilty Pleasures

Julie Greene loves flings. Loves steamy first dates, sizzling first kisses, and every now and then, that first sexy romp between the sheets. Comfy pants, sleepy Sundays, movie nights on the couch? Shudder. But when Julie gets assigned the hardest story of her career—a first-person account of that magical shift between dating and “I do”—she’ll need a man brave enough to give a total commitment-phobe a chance at more.

Normally, Mitchell Forbes would be exactly that man. A devastatingly hot workaholic who tends to stay in relationships for far too long, he should be the perfect subject for Julie’s “research.” But what Julie doesn’t know is that Mitchell is looking to cut loose for once in his life. And the leggy journalist notorious for avoiding love is exactly the type of no-strings fling he’s looking for. In other words, Mitchell is the polar opposite of what Julie needs right now. And, at the same time, he’s exactly what she wants.

I have a thing for chick flicks, I love them and one of my favorites is How To Lose a Guy in 10 Day.atruegemaward I love the humor, I love the tease, and more than anything I love watching Matthew McConaughey trying to get out of a tight spot. When he’s caught and he’s being all charming with his lopsided smile, mussed up hair, cut through you guys, and that little bit of Texas twang….seriously I just melt. As I read this book, I couldn’t help but be struck with how much it was like that movie yet still different enough to be completely entertaining and while the hero wasn’t described at looking anything like my dear Matthew, I’ll admit in my brain as I was reading that’s exactly who he looked on. Hey, don’t judge, if I want the hero to look different in my version of a book that my prerogative!

Julie Greene is a well known and respected columnist at Stiletto magazine. She’s been there a long time and she loves her job and her two counterparts in the Dating, Love and Sex department. She’s good at her job and she loves it but when her boss commands her to write an article out of her comfort zone she balks until she finds that the one person she truly can’t stand has been assigned as an alternate to the piece if she can’t write it. So she hatches a plan with her friends Grace and Riley, but she has no idea the plan will change her life and break her heart all at the same time.

Mitchell Forbes is coming off of a break-up with someone thought to be the one only he wised up before he proposed. He’s having a hard time adjusting back into the dating life so when his friend Colin challenges him to be a guy for once and just have a fling at first he’s appalled but then Colin dangles something in front of his face that truly interests him and he finds himself caught up in a bet of epic proportions. He has no idea what he’s in for and how epic this bet is until it’s too late.

Both Julie and Mitchell start their relationship playing games. To be honest, they were quite good at keeping each other off balance and finding ways to make the other just slightly uncomfortable but it was really fun to watch. It was interesting to watch them both show each other the sides of themselves they didn’t normally show other people. It was like they recognized they were kindred spirits even though they were so very different. I like that this story wasn’t all wine and roses, it was quite a messy little romance with both parties being equally guilty of playing games and eventually hurting the other. However, along the way even though they tried to play their “parts” and they worried about how their actions would affect the other neither one was honest until their deeds were thrust in their faces and their cozy relationship unraveled very quickly.

From beginning to end, After The Kiss was extremely entertaining. The characters were flawed but it was hard not to love them, their conversations were humorous yet deep, and while the story may have been somewhat familiar it was different enough to be completely engaging. I very much enjoyed this book and I look forward to checking out this author’s other offerings.
