I thought I’d spend this year making a decision. I never thought the decision would be taken from me, snatched right from my naive little hands.
I was excited to have an opportunity to do an early review on this final and third book of the Innocence Series. The story starts off with a Prologue that foreshadows an upcoming event. Then the story starts off right where Masked Innocence (book 2) left off. The Prologue really got me going; dying to know what? why? And how???
I had to reread Blindfolded Innocence (book 1) since it’s been a long time since Ms. Torre released it over a year ago and after finishing Masked Innocence (book 2) I jumped right into The End of the Innocence. I really enjoyed how Brad De Luca and Julia have matured in their relationship and I loved their HAWT scenes. There was also a F/M/F scene which I thought was nicely done to show Julia overcoming her insecurities, and solidifying her relationship with Brad. Ms. Torre did not fail to deliver and she mostly wrapped up and loose ends.
I did have a couple of issues with the book. I didn’t understand how Julia hated seafood in Blindfolded Innocence but didn’t seem to have a problem eating steak and lobster in this final book. And I wasn’t sure if I liked how easily she spent Brad’s money, easily changing up her wardrobe and adding spa appointments but still being stubborn about living in her less-than-ideal apartment with her two roommates. Finally, I didn’t like her friend Olivia who was less than supportive and even angry at her over her relationship with Brad. I never understood why and I felt Ms. Torre didn’t do much to elaborate or explain and then it seems almost too easily resolved.
I stayed up late reading this book and couldn’t put it down. I was anxious to see what happened as Ms. Torre built up the suspense towards that fateful event. Ms. Torre didn’t disappoint and she listened to her readers and added an extended ending that you can find on her site: http://www.alessandratorre.com/bradandjuliahea/. But do not read this until you’ve finished the book! This was a great conclusion to a great series, but I wouldn’t mind if Ms. Torres brings us back to Brad and Julia’s world with another book!
