Once upon a time…

There was a beautiful princess, raised in riches but lonely of heart. When Amelia Fortune Chesterfield discovered her Texas roots, she hurried to Horseback Hollow, eager to find her past. And there she found her future.

The prince wore spurs and a Stetson and was unlike any man she had ever known. In one magical night, Quinn Drummond transformed the shy, reserved girl into a passionate, feeling woman. But in the morning, the princess had to flee, tearing asunder their happily ever after. The prince, in his anger, retreated. Would a small miracle reunite the gun-shy cowboy with his lady love? Don’t miss the heartwarming conclusion of The Fortunes of Texas: Welcome to Horseback Hollow!

reviewedby-DiDi (2)First I want to note that  the description says the conclusion of The Fortunes of Texas.  I didn’t realize that this was the end of a series at first and I never felt lost in the book.  As I was reading I could tell the different cousins who must have had their own stories, after reading Fortune’s Prince, I do want to go back and read everyone else’s stories.

Amelia Fortune Chesterfield has led a privileged yet sheltered life. She travels to the United States, to small town Horseback Hollow to attend the weddings of family members, on her trip for the first wedding she sees rancher Quinn Drummond and is intrigued, Quinn is intrigued by Ameilia as well. When she returns for the second wedding Quinn gets up the nerve to ask her to dance, they experience an instant chemistry and connection that leads to a beautiful night where the connection turns into love. The next day Amelia has to return to London, but they make plans for her to come back.  A huge misunderstanding occurs upon Amelia’s return to London, and Quinn shuts her out.  Amelia decides to give one last try and heads back to Horseback Hollow to fight for her man.

I really enjoyed Amelia and Quinn. Amelia has always been the kind of girl who does what is expected of her and never wants to bring shame to her royal family, but she hates the life that being a royal forces on her.  She fell in love with Quinn and the quietness of Horseshoe Hollow.  It was a pleasure watching Amelia learn to stand her ground and come out of her shell as she fought for the love of Quinn. Quinn is a hardworking rancher, who was burned by his first wife. He has managed to keep from falling for anyone until he saw Amelia for the first time.  Once he felt Amelia did him wrong, he cut her off.  She returns to America to talk to him but he’s not having it, well at least he says he isn’t, but it gets harder and harder for him to deny his feelings.

The only thing I would’ve liked better is a more detailed epilogue, I would love to see Quinn with the small miracle that reunited them. I’m getting to the point where if a book doesn’t have a good epilogue it makes me feel like the story is incomplete, but that may just be me 🙂

Fortune’s Prince is an enjoyable, emotional yet feel good, quick read. Great for a day by the pool or at the beach!
