Although a short read this story of ménage packs an emotional punch, Kaitlin Maitland challenges you the reader to think and look out of your comfort zone. If you can find love in the most unexpected places why can’t your relationship be a little unconventional but satisfying?
It is never easy to write a ménage that will actually make sense or engage the reader in the actual story; sometimes readers just want the hot sex scenes. In Missed Connections this is more than just a ménage it’s a story about acceptance of yourself and others. Nena our heroine is a plus sized woman who is the baby of 10 siblings and used to being the wallflower. It’s Nena’s belief that she will never have love or a family to call her own because really who would want a her with all the extra padding when there are other more perfect females to choose from?
Brody and Micah are our super hot hero’s they are both physically fit and educated living in a same sex relationship that has a few issues. Brody wants emotion and Mica, well he thinks emotions are signs of weakness. When our hero’s meet our lovely Nena sparks do fly and I wondered just how this was going to work. Remember Brody and Micah are having problems just how are they going to be able to add Nena to their lives and bridge the gap that has developed between them?
Finding the balance in a ménage or polyamorous relationship is a challenge; add trying to garner society’s acceptance, familial acceptance and the challenge becomes daunting. Missed Connections reminds you that it’s you have to be accepting of what makes you happy, loved and secure and when you find that, it’s up to you to make it work. Overall I was very satisfied with this book I just wanted it to be longer so that we could see more character growth and interaction.
