From her very first book author Jeannie Moon blew me away with the way she draws the reader into the story and makes them feel a part of it. So even though this book features one of my biggest pet peeves in romance, I still very much enjoyed it mainly because I loved the cast in this story especially the hero’s mother. The Wedding Secret was entertaining and at times frustrating but it also had me laughing out loud.
Harper Poole really let go one time in her life and the result while shocking isn’t something she’ll ever regret. However, a year later her life just got even more complicated when her boss’ brother in law and her best friend’s brother moves back to town. To top it off her mother is putting pressure on her and she feels her life is about to blow up in her face and everything she’s worked so hard for will disappear.
Kevin Rossi loves being back in New York and having his family around but he’s really excited when he see Harper again after being gone for 8 months. Their fling isn’t something he’s been able to forget and he hopes to start up where they left off, but Harper seems to want nothing to do with him and he aims to find out why.
This couple shared a secret tryst for several months before Kevin left town to play professional baseball across the country, so when they reconnect it’s not surprising they pick up pretty quickly on the physical but there are extenuating circumstances that keep them from moving forward. They both made mistakes and continue to make mistakes which led to me wanting to pop them both upside the head on numerous occasions but even with that I still loved this story. Harper has a lot and I do mean a lot of skeletons in her closet making it hard for her to trust and to fully give herself over to someone yet Kevin just seems to keep breaking down her walls and proving that he wants to be the one she can trust. While I’d like to say it was smooth sailing it was far from it and Kevin made some pretty big errors in judgment something his family is quick to jump on him about. Harper isn’t without her own flaws and mistakes and it takes a great deal for these two to figure out a way to move past it all to be together.
The one thing I’ve always loved about this author’s books is the characters. From the main characters to all the secondary characters they just keep you enthralled. In this book some of the best and funniest lines are delivered by the hero’s mother. I love a mom who isn’t afraid to call out her child when he’s being a total bonehead!
The Wedding Secret was easy to enjoy with its crazy plot, supreme sexiness, and characters that keep you guessing and laughing. This is another fantastic author from author Jeannie Moon who has become a fast favorite of mine!
