Many of you know Lorelei James’ Rough Riders series holds a special place in my heart. Long Hard Ride was the first erotic romance I ever read, I was immediately hooked. It is through Lorelei’s yahoo group that I have met many amazing friends, including Lorelei. I was lucky enough to be able to Beta read CTMA and all I can say is the Cowboy took me away……I was incommunicado while reading CTMA and I continue to cry at random times since reading it. It’s a beautiful, beautiful story. Earlier today I told the GP reviewers this “I do not have adequate words for this book. It’s not just the story or the fact that it’s the last one. It’s everything the way Lorelei presents their story is amazing. I just honestly don’t think she could’ve wrapped it up any better. When I say it’s my favorite of the series it is the honest truth and I can’t believe I put it above Cowgirl Up and Ride, but CTMA is THAT epic. Carson and Carolyn both are amazing CTMA doesn’t just end the series for me it makes it come full circle and cements into the place as one of the best family sagas I’ve ever come across books, TV or movies.”
This song came on earlier today and I started crying…I have always loved it but now it has even more special meaning to me.

I just Beta Read the most incredible end of series book ever! I can think of no better or more beautiful way for an author to finish a 16 book series than to tell the EPIC tale of the two people who started it all 50 yrs ago. A romance and passion that sps 50 years, a love that withstands trials and tribulations, happy and sad, a love that creates a strong and loving family. A book that is so emotional I’m still crying 48 hrs after I finished it. This book had me laughing, crying, sighing and crying some more. It’s touching, sexy and sweet.
When I finished COWBOY TAKE ME AWAY I had an overwhelming urge to re read the series. When I finished it I felt like I was saying goodbye to family and moving to another planet, I’m not ready to leave the McKays behind (I’m crying once again as I type this) thus the NEED to re read the series. I can tell after reading CTMA each of my re reads will be even more poignant. Plan to take June 17 off and do absolutely nothing because you will not want to put CTMA down, and this is a long book it took me about 11 hours to finish. I cannot even explain this book all I can say is it is Lorelei James at her finest! CTMA will leave you on a McKay high!!!! But have your tissues ready because if you are a Rough Riders fan you will need them for days.
The entire Rough Riders series will always remain a PUREST DELIGHT in my heart and soul.

I am a HUGE Lorelei fan and, like you, have read all of these books, hell all of her books period, and she was THE author I wanted to meet at RT in NOLA (and I did, and have the pic!), I cannot wait to read this book. And yes, I will want to reread the entire series as well. These whole series is absolutely among my favorite reads of ALL time. I’m sad to see it end. Great review. I’m looking forward to next week!
