Blazing sexual chemistry, stubborn yet delightful characters, a secondary cast that could drive you to drink, and a plot filled with fun and passion with just a touch of drama makes Then Came You a book I simply could not put down. ~ Slick, Guilty Pleasures
Description:
Veterinary intern Emily can’t believe she wound up in the small town of Sunshine, Idaho, instead of the Los Angeles clinic she had always imagined. Now she has to put her plans to move to L.A. on hold for a whole year while she fulfills the obligation of her vet school scholarship.
Then Wyatt, her gorgeous one-night stand from a Reno vet conference, introduces himself as her new boss. And Emily is just as drawn to his seductive looks and quiet strength as she was on that very steamy night. She soon learns that Wyatt isn’t just a laid-back doctor, but a delicious alpha male tempting her away from her carefully laid-out plans…

I swear Jill Shalvis is pure comic genius and in her latest book, Then Came You, a one night stand comes back to haunt a sexy small town vet, Wyatt Stone, and the woman he shared a night with at a Reno conference. Paying back a grant by agreeing to intern at one of the veterinarian’s offices that awarded it, Emily Stevens hoped to stay at the one in L.A. but instead finds herself in Sunshine, Idaho and the object of the only one night stand she’s ever had, her immediate supervisor. Hilarity ensues as these two try to do the right thing and stay away from each other but their attraction burns so brightly that they wind up slipping on more than one occasion. Blazing sexual chemistry, stubborn yet delightful characters, a secondary cast that could drive you to drink, and a plot filled with fun and passion with just a touch of drama makes Then Came You a book I simply could not put down.
I swear I get goose bumps just thinking about Wyatt’s voice, yes the author wrote him so well that I can truly imagine it when he talks. However, Wyatt is so much more than his amazing voice. He’s a great guy, a dedicated vet, a dutiful brother, a pillar of the community and he simply wants to find someone who loves Sunshine, Idaho as much as he does to settle down with; someone who puts him first for a change. Honestly, I admired the fact that he was ready to settle down but not ready to settle for just anyone and that he wanted someone who would be just as good to him as he is to them.
Emily was kind of a mess but a delightful mess. She feels such a duty to her family that she’s willing to plan her life out to the minute in order to do everything she can for them. She hasn’t had it easy and she’s sure of what she thinks she wants but Wyatt makes her want to forget all of her plans and that’s just something she doesn’t think she can do.
It was so fun watching these two try to stay away from each other but never really succeeding and while they pretended it was all fun and games it was pretty evident they both were feeling more than they wanted to admit. They were weak and I loved every minute of the weakness. I also loved how fiercely loyal their siblings where and not afraid to speak their minds about their unusual situation.
It’s never a bad thing that as I sit writing a review for a book that I’m smiling as I write it because I’m remembering all the fun, the tender moments, the sad moments, and everything in between this book just worked and Jill Shavis has once again given her readers an outstanding story in Then Came You.
Thanks Slick for the review
