As I write this review I’m thinking back on this book and how often it made me smile, made me laugh, and made my heart flutter with the love and admiration that was so evident between these two. ~ Slick, Guilty Pleasures
Description:
John “Monty” Montgomery is a workaholic. The oldest of the Montgomery children, he’s been working by his father’s side building the family hotel chain almost his entire life. His commitment to the business leaves no time for romance. But that’s about to change.
Georgia Lennox has been fantasizing about Monty ever since she started her gig as handywoman at Montgomery Manor. She figures Monty is way out of her league, so she hasn’t dared to act on her feelings — until he offers to help fill a volunteer shortage on her latest project, building houses for families in need.
Sparks fly as they spend time together, first on the job site, then off. But Georgia’s not your typical frilly and feminine society girl. Hoping to find a way to fit in with the Montgomerys, she agrees to be made over by Monty’s sister for an event. But if she lets her rough edges be smoothed away, will she be letting go of the very thing that attracted Monty in the first place?

Tamara Morgan comes back with a bang in her Montgomery Manor series with Because I Can. We
finally get to see a lot more of oldest brother John (Monty) Montgomery III and find out that there is so much more to him than meets the eye. I don’t know why I’m surprised because author Tamara Morgan always writes complex characters and throws them into the most intriguing situations. What I loved most about this book is that it takes place mostly in and around the manor so we get to see all the characters from the first two books in addition to getting a very entertaining, highly amusing, and of course sexy love story.
Monty Montgomery has always been the reliable one, the steady one; the one everyone can count on and while he doesn’t mind hard work after overhearing a conversation he hates that people see him as monotonous and boring. He freely admits he hasn’t had much of a life outside of work; that he has a hard time finding balance but he believes in the work he does as head of the Montgomery Charitable Foundation and so he continues to work hard to ensure that work continues to go on.
Georgia Lennox is no ordinary woman; she’s a handywoman. Yep, you read that right. Georgia can fix almost anything and in addition she’s acquired her contractor’s license so she can supervise a project to build homes for the needy. Georgia is a very capable woman and she finds it hard to accept help with anything including a special problem she has sexually.
These are two very different people from two very different worlds but they complement each other so well. Georgia grounds Monty and helps him understand how to enjoy life and Monty proves time and time again that he is someone Georgia can rely on and trust. He also helps her to understand that accepting help isn’t a sign of weakness. I loved watching them fall in love, loved the fact that Monty was determined to show Georgia that great sex takes time, patience, and exploration, and loved that Georgia quickly saw a very different side of Monty; a side he’s never shown to anyone else.
As I write this review I’m thinking back on this book and how often it made me smile, made me laugh, and made my heart flutter with the love and admiration that was so evident between these two. Because I Can is another exceptional story from author Tamara Morgan and if you aren’t reading this author, you are missing out on some amazing storytelling.
