Only Tara Sivec could take something as horrific as cancer and make the reader not only feel what the characters are feeling but making such a horrible disease something to laugh about.  ~ Cheyenne, Guilty Pleasures

During the month of October, 100% of the proceeds from Tattoos and Tatas will be donated to breast cancer awareness.

Claire and Liz have always had a friendship that defied the test of time, but when one of them is diagnosed with a disease that every woman fears, their bond is put through the wringer. How do you cope knowing your soul mate could be taken from you?

Filled with memories of their life long friendship, inappropriate behavior, bad tattoos and shaving cats, the two friends will realize that laughter really is the best medicine.

Tattoos and TaTas is not your typical love story; it’s a story of friendship and learning how to let go when something is beyond your control.

Only Tara Sivec could take something as horrific as cancer and make the reader not only feel whatatruegemaward the characters are feeling but making such a horrible disease something to laugh about. Now I am not in any way shape or form stating that she makes fun of anyone who has ever been diagnosed with cancer, totally the opposite. She shows that laughter truly can be the best medicine when everything else around you seems so dark and scary.

*Spoiler alert!*

This time we get Liz’s point of view and what she feels when Claire is diagnosed with breast cancer. Liz’s character really surprised me at times. Yes we all know that she is an asshole and hilarious, but she is also a best friend who wants to make everything right and has a hard time even thinking that the worst could possibly happen. She doesn’t know how to deal with Claire’s cancer and that hurts her. We also get to look into her past and see how she met Claire, Jim, and Carter. Of course the entire gang is in the book and just the overall love that they share for Claire is amazing. There is this point part that broke my heart and I actually had tears in my eyes and not from laughing either, but in true Tara Sivec form she was able to switch those tears of sadness to ones of holy shit I can’t believe she wrote that tears of laughter.

I have lost a best friend and a grandfather to cancer, and it doesn’t matter what form it is, it isn’t just hard on the patient themselves but any person who loves and cares about them. Cancer is a horrible disease that can be treated and one that I pray that a cure will be found sooner rather than later, but it isn’t always a cloud of darkness if you have a group of people who love you and can bring a little laughter into your life when you need it the most. I applaud Tara Sivec for not just writing another hilarious story about some of our favorite characters, but writing a book that shows hope, friendship, family, strength and one that will help kick cancer’s nasty ass!
