Dirty Rowdy Thing is a perfect balance of steam, naughtiness, laughter, and sentiment.  I’m laughing one minute and tearing up the next.  I cannot recommend this series enough.  I tell everyone I know to give it a try.  ~ Kimber, Guilty Pleasures

Despite their rowdy hookups, Harlow and Finn don’t even like each other…which would explain why their marriage lasted only twelve hours. He needs to be in charge and takes whatever he wants. She lives by the Want-something-done? Do-it-yourself mantra. Maybe she’s too similar to the rugged fisherman—or just what he needs.

Dirty Rowdy Thing is the 2nd book in the Wild Seasons series by Christina Lauren and they’ve once atruegemawardagain pulled me into one of their incredibly well written and amazing stories. I’m such a fan of this series, when I received the ARC in the mail, I actually squealed. The first book introduced us the three couples who wed after a drunken night in Vegas and got divorced (well, two of the couples did) the day after, realizing how crazy it was to marry someone you just met. They remained friends who intertwined which set up the rest of the series. Our featured couple this go round is Harlow and Finn. Together in the first book, they set off fireworks, so I presumed their story would be another fun and extra naughty one and it did not disappoint. What I didn’t expect was the emotionalism it would bring out. It started before the first pages of the text with the dedication of the book to writers’ fathers. There’s just something about girls and their dads that gets me every time. Then, within a few pages, we are blindsided along with Harlow when we learn her mother is sick. This was one enjoyable emotional ride and I am thrilled to tell you about it.

When Harlow and Finn first meet in the first book, the physical attraction is there. However, they don’t really get along with each other. But, they are so hot for each other they end up hooking up anyway. The night they get married in Vegas there’s not a lot of talking going on so they don’t really have the opportunity to get to know each other which is fine because all they want is sex. What’s so funny is that they have these preconceived perceptions about each other that are so totally WRONG. He thinks he’s got her figured out – diva, barbie doll, spoiled little rich girl, shopaholic, materialistic, brat. She thinks he’s a smart-ass, asshole man whore whose a jerk and only good for one thing. She’s not looking for a boyfriend, just someone who can give her lots of orgasms and is good in bed. He’s not looking for anything permanent either so the fact neither one of them cares that much for the other works for a wild night of sex. Now, here they are, thrown together again because they have mutual friends, and things start to change. The fighting, the nicknames, the sex – it all works for me. Wow, what a journey it was.

I love Harlow. She’s so much more than what meets the eye. I think Whorelow fooled us all, and isn’t that always a pleasant surprise when you have this idea about a character and she turns out to be something totally different than what you expected. She’s still that loyal friend who tries to fix everything, but quickly learns some things you can’t fix. She’s also really close to her family, especially her dad. The father-daughter relationship between Harlow and Alexander is one I can appreciate so that was another part of the story that pulled at my heart strings. She’s young and has a lot on her but quickly realizes things are out of her control, so what she needs is a temporary distraction to help keep her mind off the bad stuff. In steps Finn. Ahhh, Finn. He speaks to ALL of my weaknesses. He’s so swoon worthy it hurts –kinky, good with ropes, fisherman, with big hands and broad shoulders, wears a baseball cap, hard-bodied, gorgeous male, fucks like he means it, domineering, dirty talker – a fucking wet dream is what Finn Roberts is. Just when I think I can’t take any more of his awesomeness, he has to go and be sweet too? I melt for this man. Unfortunately, he has his trouble too. His livelihood is in danger which is one of the reasons he’s in town for a few weeks. You can imagine as with all well written stories, you have all of these build ups and then when everything slowly gets stripped away, that’s when you really learn about the characters and what they’re made of. Wonderful, amazing characters! Seriously, Christina Lauren is fast becoming one of my favorite authors.

On top of how hot Finn and Harlow are together, the story as a whole was a bit tragic for me. I mean, the irony of it all. Finn could have been there for her the entire time with what was going on with her mother but she didn’t trust herself or him enough to give that information up. She chose to use him as a distraction instead of giving him the chance to be so much more. Now, she’s in too deep and it could be too late. Does she have enough in her to stick it out and win him back? Download and see how it all comes together.

Dirty Rowdy Thing is a perfect balance of steam, naughtiness, laughter, and sentiment. I’m laughing one minute and tearing up the next. I cannot recommend this series enough. I tell everyone I know to give it a try.

Book 3 is Oliver and Lola. I CANNOT WAIT!!! And…no pressure to the writers, but I’m completely intrigued by Finn’s brothers (the mental pictures alone keep me up at night ***fans self***) and the whole situation they are now in. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a series continuation or a spin-off. They absolutely MUST get their own books.
