Nina and Flint are two people who knew each other but with a quick turn of events become even closer, as lives are at stake. Nina learns to put her past behind her and put trust in the law; with her hopes riding high that this time the law won’t fail. She swore off holidays and men for many years, after Flint finds out why he works double time to prove he’s different. With stress rising and hope dwindling Nina takes a huge risk and gets caught up in an intense battle for her life. As Flint is forced to watch his town destroyed by murders, robbers, and an unknown deadly virus he is forced to make some tough decisions, and coming clean about his feelings is only the beginning. Nina tries to stay firm to her beliefs but has been proven wrong, but only time will tell if she and the colton lawman will make it to the end.
I enjoyed this book due to its fast-paced, intense plot. It was easy to fall into and stay hooked until the end. I would have liked a little better ending but I understand it is part of a series written by numerous authors. The characters were developed but at times I felt like they could have used a little more. Overall, I was not disappointed and will be looking for more of Carla Cassidy’s work.
