I honestly felt such a sense of relief when I finished this book and realized that despite the tragedies in their early years this couple was able to forgive, move forward, and together work to reach their happily ever after! ~ Slick, Guilty Pleasures

Mistakes
Secrets
Second Chances
Sharon “Roni” Walker and Brandon “Rooster” Hancock have a past. As teenagers and young adults they were lovers, sneaking around, hoping not to get caught. When Rooster took the fall for her, in a crime he didn’t commit, a string of events were set forth that changed lives and ruined friendships.
Seventeen years later they are at a turning point. Secrets have been revealed, mistakes have been forgiven, and now it’s up to them to choose the type of relationship they want.
There’s a passion that burns bright, but at the same time there is a fear that it will all be taken away in the blink of an eye like it was before.
They have a decision to make—do they let go of what could be the happiest time in their life, or do they take a shot on a second chance love?

I’m being really honest here when I say that I have been waiting for Roni’s book since the first book in this series so I was a little bit scared going in to this book hoping I hadn’t built it up so much in my head that I wouldn’t enjoy it, but once again Laramie Briscoe has surpassed her best. I am a sucker for second chance love stories especially between people whose choices were taken away from them; those whose relationship was ended through no fault of their own and those who still have feelings for one another over a decade later. I don’t think I could love this book anymore than I already do and I am so excited that this couple finally got the happily ever after they deserved.
I always knew there was more to Sharon “Roni” Walker than meets the eye. From previous books we know that she loves her brother Liam fiercely, that she will do anything to help someone who needs help, that a mistake she made as a teen sent her brother to juvie and her boyfriend to a work camp, that she fought fiercely to get out from under her father’s control, and that she really isn’t completely happy in her life.
With each book in this series we’ve become aware that there are so many layers to Brandon “Rooster” Hancock. After leaving the sheriff’s department he has been finding things to keep him busy but he’s also been busy repairing his relationship with his old friend Liam Walker and trying to show Roni that there is no reason for them not to be together. He knows he’s walking a fine line with the Heaven Hill MC but he’s working to make sure everyone in the club knows he has their back.
It’s not always easy to pick up the pieces from a previous relationship and Roni and Rooster have a lot that they must work through. Roni has some secrets that she is worried will change the way Rooster sees her and Rooster has uncovered an issue that he feels might put him at odds with Roni and her brother, Liam. What I loved about this book is that Roni realized that she needed a neutral party to be present when she talked to Rooster and while he questioned it at first it turned out to be a good thing for both of them.
While the re-kindled romance was the main focus of this book there was also a big side story that created some tension and drama but also brought to light some very interesting developments. I love that we saw so many of the previous couples in this book and some had fairly large roles. There is no doubt that the MC members are as close if not closer than some families and it always makes me smile to see them together and doing well.
There were some emotional moments in this book but compared to a couple of her earlier works this was an easier romance. Yes, this couple had some issues to overcome but being a bit older, having history, knowing each other so well they were able to communicate effectively and work through the rough patches without a lot of drama. I honestly felt such a sense of relief when I finished this book and realized that despite the tragedies in their early years this couple was able to forgive, move forward, and together work to reach their happily ever after! Second Chance Love is the icing on the cake of this entertaining, alluring and emotional series.
