I fell in love with J.R. Ward with the Blackdagger Brotherhood series and, when I picked up the first book in the Fallen Angel Series, she got a new fan for life. With Immortal, we see a close to this series, say good-bye to Jim Herron, and I can honestly say that I am really going to miss him. But, since the series was about the 7 Deadly Sins, you knew going in that there would be a beginning and an end.
As the series comes to a close, Jim Herron has a lot to face. His immortality, Sissy’s immortality and inability to get into heaven, falling in love with a virgin, Devina’s hatred and love and so much more. There are 2 souls left and he’s losing the war because of his feelings for Sissy. Now, he must find the 6th and 7th souls and win both battles or lose everything and everyone to Devina. The clues are all there as to who they are … Ad knows, Sissy realizes it … now it’s up to Jim to save the world.
Devina is there trying to stop him at every turn. Pulling tricks out of her hat that had Jim’s head spinning. But Sissy and her love for Jim along with Adrian, were not going to let that happen. Once all the puzzle pieces fall together, Devina is sent back to Hell, dog comes back, Jim faces his love for Sissy and 7 flags flying in heaven makes everyone extremely happy.
I kept putting down Immortal because I didn’t want it to end. I knew, deep down, that J.R. Ward would not disappoint me. That there would be a happily-ever-after that had me crying. Well, she didn’t fail me. I cried, like a baby. The story was so wonderfully written and there was not a moment that you weren’t sitting on the edge of your seat waiting to see what was going to happen next. But, what made me smile was that she brought back all of the souls, all of the angels and archangels. She closed with a flourish and gave us all what we were waiting for.
So, as we say good-bye to Jim Herron, to Angel Airlines, the fallen angels, the archangels, dog, let’s wish them a long and happy life in heaven. And, in the words of Momma Herron: “It’s all about love. No matter what side you’re on, it’s all about love.”
Thanks for the review Kitty it has been a while since I’ve read of these
