Not your typical beauty and the beast story, lots of emotions and a good bit of humor. I fell in love with the story and I enjoyed the secondary characters. ~ Divine, Guilty Pleasures

When we think of Beauty and the Beast we think of Disney well ladies this is not Belle and Beast that is for sure. We have our hero Hunter Buchanan who is scarred and disfigured and socially inept and a billionaire virgin; then there is our quirky heroine Gretchen Petty who is a fiesty ghostwriter searching for her place in life.

From the beginning of this story I was hooked because Jessica Clare challenges you as a a reader to look beyond the cover and get into the story. Hunter is more than just physically scarred he is emotionally damaged as well, it takes him eavesdropping on a conversation between Gretchen and her friend before he attempts to break out of his emotional and physical fortress. Our hero constructs an ellaborate plan to sequester Gretchen in his families manor to write a book based on letters.

Our Gretchen is intrigued and excited at the prospect however she is more intrigued by the mysterious Beast of the manor. What ensues is a sweet courtship and romance however one misunderstanding after another can rip Hunter and Gretchen apart. This is where we see the growth of Hunter emotionally and Jessica Clare wrote this so well with humor and humility. I laughed quite a bit reading this version of Beauty and the Beast and I give it four stars.
