The writing was just as good, the story just as interesting, and the sex just as steamy hot as the first book. I just found my loyalties being tested too far. ~ Leigh, Guilty Pleasures
Description:
She was the one love that Miles vowed never to abandon. He was the one lover who kept her craving more. Can she now recover from the most profound betrayal a woman can endure?
The One and More is the second in a series of erotic romance thrillers by Belle Ami that charts the steamy, star–crossed love affair of Adelia Lindstrom and Miles Bremen.
Bound by a connection as pure as it is red hot, and deep as it is pulsing with desire, the two are forced from each other’s hearts, and beds–by the most chilling act of sabotage–by Karolin, the twisted sister of Miles, whose design on the couple’s twin children may even lead to murder.
Newly estranged and with custody of their toddlers, Adelia is now involved in a titillating love affair with Detective David Weiss. However, when they uncover new evidence in the death of Adelia’s parents, it causes her to revisit the past, and Miles’s role in it all. When her children are once again threatened by Karolin, the event becomes international, drawing in the FBI. Can Adelia save her children and reignite her once-consuming feelings for Miles, or will David win her heart?

I have to admit that I didn’t love this book as much as I enjoyed the first book in this series. The writing was just as good, the story just as interesting, and the sex just as steamy hot. I just found my loyalties being tested too far, and the manner in which ongoing plots were resolved was unsatisfying.
In the first novel, we met and fell in lust with Miles and Adelia. We hated his sister Karolin and were confused by how Detective David Weiss was going to play into all of this. But in the end, Miles and Adelia’s marriage was over. The One and More gave us a chance to really get to know David and the caring man he is. His love for Adelia is deep and pure and I finally felt like here was a hero we could root for to have a happily ever after.
My biggest issue with this sequel was where my loyalties were supposed to lay. Was I supposed to feel more for Miles, who is kinky, sexy, her first love and the father of her children? Who is also a total ass, treated Adelia like crap, had no faith in her, and started this whole sordid affair of having children by Adelia so that Karolin could, in a sense, be a surrogate mother? Or was I supposed to feel more towards David, who was good, kind, loved Adelia enough to do the right thing, but apparently not enough to really fight for her?
The murder of Adelia’s parents was a major theme in the first book, and a continuing one in this sequel. But for such a large part of the story, the resolution was too abrupt and unsatisfying. Karolin’s ending also left a bad taste in my mouth.
While I will certainly read a future installment in this series to find out what finally happens with these characters, it is almost against my will. I would have liked to see this resolved in two books since the murder mystery story arc was completed. I do enjoy reading Belle Ami’s work, and find myself pulled in to the sexy story and even hotter love scenes. But at this point, I feel like I am reading more to find out the conclusion than I am for the journey.
3.5 Stars
**SPOILER**
I felt like the redeeming factor in this book would be that at least I could see how the David/Adelia/Miles love triangle would work itself out, but I did not anticipate this becoming a series.
**END SPOILER**
