I have to admit when Karen Erickson writes a girls weekend in Las Vegas she goes all out. Holy smokes Reckless Nights was one hot, steamy, sexy, fantasy weekend! The prequel to this book Wicked Weekend sets up this book perfectly; three friends all nurses take a weekend trip to Vegas for no holds barred fun and meet a man who changes their lives by inviting them to an exclusive party. Reckless Nights is the story of unassuming regular girl Reagan and the actor she’s had a crush on for years Declan Carter. She’s seeing stars and he’s seeing a normal woman and together they have one hell of a hot time.
As this is a novella, the plot moves quickly and it doesn’t take long for these two to move on from the pleasantries of just meeting to the bedroom in the penthouse suite. Their chemistry comes across the page in spades but I loved that early on these two saw more in each other. Reagan admires that Declan admits he hit rock bottom and he’s clawing his way back up to the top and he loves the Reagan sees all of him and isn’t scared to be around him not to mention that she isn’t with him for what he can do for her career or the things he can buy her.
There’s an underlying mutual respect for each other that just seems to make it easy for them to really like one another for more than just sex. That’s not to say there isn’t sex, oh there’s a lot of that as they both are assuming this is just a fling.
While Reagan and Declan are discovering all kinds of things about one another her friends are having equally interesting weekends which we will be treated to soon and I can’t wait.
While I would have loved more to the end of this story (just because I’m kind of nosey that way and I’m a sucker for a great epilogue) I really did love it and I’m hoping that after the third book we might get a epilogue story similar to the prequel. I really love it when two people meet by chance and wind up finding a lasting love…sigh this is a fairy tale romance that lovers of this genre will appreciate and enjoy!
