Some people get under your skin.
Some get into your heart.

Bestselling author Liam Wyndham needed an escape, and Half Moon Bay, with its small town charm and beautiful ocean, is the perfect place to hide out from the scandal surrounding his estranged dead wife. A place where he can enjoy his writer’s block in sweet isolation. But all of his plans to become a surly recluse disappear when carpenter Georgie Sacchi marches into his house…

Georgie wants an adventure, and she has a plane ticket that promises her everything she needs—excitement, independence, and a way to escape the memory of her last ruined relationship. Still, she has one last job to complete before she can leave the country. The last thing she needs is a recalcitrant author with a gorgeous face (and a hot body) distracting her from her plans.

But life doesn’t always give you what you think you need…

I’ve enjoyed every book in author Annie Seaton’s Half Moon Bay series but Guarding His Heart is atruegemawardmy favorite. It’s hard to resist an emotionally scarred best-selling author who wants nothing more than to be left alone to write falling for a local girl who has sworn off relationships and vowed to travel around the world in search of her independence. Relationship secrets, personal struggles, and two people who both never thought they’d fall in love again all added up to a very entertaining romance.

There’s nothing like your personal life being shared with the world through media both reputable and not and Liam Wyndham wants nothing more than to escape it all, find his muse, and get back to writing. So when he comes to after a kayak accident to find a red headed woman trying to administer first aid, he doesn’t respond very kindly and that works for Georgie Sacchi who has had enough of egotistical men. However they both soon find that they have a hard time not thinking about the other person and the more time they spend together the harder it is to deny the feelings that are developing.

Both Liam and Georgie have some baggage and it affects the way they deal with the relationship they begin even though they don’t want to admit it is a relationship. Liam is very analytical about it and realizes that Georgie makes him happy, that she is good for him, and that makes him more productive but he also knows that it’s more than that. He admires her work ethic, the way she looks out for those she loves, and that she isn’t clingy nor is she impressed by his celebrity status. Georgie is a little tougher; after multiple bad relationships she’s convinced that she’s just not cut out for love and she feels she needs to prove to herself and her friends that she can do something on her own without regard to anyone else. At times she’s almost stubborn about it especially as she begins to realize how much she enjoys being with Liam and how she really doesn’t want to leave her home.

As with all the books in this series, this is a sweet romance and while the sex is behind closed doors there is no denying the attraction between them or the fact that they are both enjoying the time they spend together doing sexy things. I for one appreciate the little innuendos and smooth talking Liam and the blushing Georgie!

As this is the last book in the series, the author does a fantastic job of wrapping it up with a very nice epilogue making sure the readers know everyone is happy and more importantly that Georgie is finally getting everything she wants and deserves. Smart, sweet, sassy, and a little bit sexy Guarding His Heart wraps up the Half Moon Bay series perfectly.
