I Know You Want Me…

One last hookup. At least that’s what graphic designer Jenna Cho has in mind when she texts her toxic-in-life but amazing-in-bed ex, Jax. When her gorgeous boss Jack responds to the booty call instead, Jenna learns exactly why a girl should never hit send after one too many vodka sodas. Still, faced with Jack’s sexy grin and even sexier Irish accent, Jenna thinks maybe she messaged the right man after all—especially when he admits he’s been hoping she’d make the first move…

Drunk texting…most of us have been guilty of it a time or two and in Texting Under the Influence the heroine learns that sometimes a mistake can turn out to be the best thing that has ever happened to you. Flirty and sexy this was a super short but enjoyable romance.

Jenna Cho is single and has enjoyed an on again, off again relationship with a man who clearly doesn’t understand monogamy in fact he admits fully that men are not destined to be with one woman. After finding out some not so happy news she kicks him to the curb but begins to wonder if she shouldn’t partake of his sexpertise one more time for old times’ sake because he’s apparently pretty great between the sheets but when her boss, Jack, shows up at her apartment for a booty call instead of her ex, Jax, life gets really interesting really fast.

So not too many women would complain about their hot Irishman boss showing up after getting a rather suggestive text and Jenna while surprised was pretty okay despite the company’s no fraternization policy. I kind of had some issues with Jenna’s character; I felt she was pretty shallow and so her ex was good in the sack that fact that she still wanted him despite the unwelcome visitor he left her with in my opinion showed poor judgment. On the other hand I really loved Jack who despite really wanting Jenna didn’t take advantage and showed he not only was a good guy but a worthy lover.

These two were in a strange position as their affair could end the careers although for Jack it didn’t matter and there were a few moments they questioned what they were doing and trust was hard for them both. All of that I understood and while there was more angst than I normally like in a novella it worked until someone close to Jack arrives and blows things really out of proportion. In fact days later I’m still trying to figure out why anyone would chose a workplace as a place for a huge confrontation other than it was a not so well disguised plot device thus cheapening the story.

I appreciated the set-up to this story and overall I enjoyed Texting Under the Influence but this wasn’t my favorite by this author.
