I’m heartbroken that I need to wait several months for the next installment because I simply love this series! Lexi Blake has crafted a magnificent world of supernatural creatures, kinky sex, political intrigue, non-stop action and not a small amount of snark to make this series utterly incredible.

First off, let me say that this is not a stand alone book. If you have not read Ripper, the first book in this series, you will truly be lost as to what is going on since this book picks up right where Ripper left off. But to really get the most from this series, I would start back where it all began, with the Thieves series. Ms. Blake has written a world that is fascinating, and reading it from the start will give you the best appreciation for it.

In Addict, we pick up with Kelsey, as her and her vampire lover, Marcus, return from Italy so she can begin her role as the council’s death machine. But a demon plot against the King pulls her back in contact with Grey, her ex-demon lover. Together, Kelsey, Marcus, Grey, and a whole host of characters we came to know and love in the Thieves series, must thwart the plan and basically save the world.

The plot itself is not earthshattering. What makes this book so fantastic is the way in which the story is told. Ms. Blake has a way of weaving in so much color and detail and fun that I find it hard to believe a world populated with werewolves and vampires and demons doesn’t exist. I have grown to know and love these creatures and look forward to seeing what they will do next. Her heroines are such strong women, caring about their family, friends and lovers and doing whatever they can to protect them. Her heroes are over the top alpha and sexy as the hell. And her stories are just a blast. They pull you in and make you never want them to end.

I’m sure I’ve exhausted the amount of superlatives I can possibly use in one review, but this book has earned them all. Addict is a fantastic addition to this incredible series and one that shouldn’t be missed. If you’re looking for a total escape from reality and a fun romp that will have you believing in fairy princes, this is for you.
