Nuts had a lot of funny one liners and double entendres but it wasn’t enough for me to like the characters. ~ Paige, Guilty Pleasures

Once she’s back in the Hudson Valley, local organic farmer Leo delivers Roxie a lovely bunch of walnuts, and soon sparks—and clothing—begin to fly. I’m a huge fan of Alice Clayton and her books but this missed the mark for me.

There was a great deal of humor, one liners and laugh out loud moments but there didn’t seem to be much else.

For a good portion of the book I felt like I was reading a how to novel. There was a lot of discussion on farming- how to and where to plant certain crops. Cooking- what food were best paired with each other. New business ideas- how to take the diner food and turn it into a catering business.

The book was told through Roxie’s POV. While she was quick witted and sassy, I didn’t feel like there was any connection between her or Leo.
Leo was likable enough but I dent get a sense of his character. There didn’t seem to be a lot of dialog between the pair.

Throughout the book we are constantly reminded how small the town is and how nosey every one is but huge secrets aren’t told or discussed with anyone.

Since this is the first of the series, we were introduced to some interesting characters. I’m hopeful that the next book would be worth the read.
