Stroke of Midnight may have been a novella but it was packed with everything that we have come to know and love of Lara Adrian and the Breeds. Jehan is no different … he’s Breed so we know how striking he is … Seraphina is a Breedmate, she wouldn’t be anything less than a beautiful, strong woman with a mind of her own. Taking a Mate is not something that she is remotely interested in, especially if he is a member of the Order.

Jehan has returned home only to let his family know that he is refusing the order to take a Mate. It doesn’t matter to him that a centuries old pact would be broken – he feels that it is barbaric and out dated. Until he sees the disappointment in his father’s eyes. He agrees to the 8 day handfasting … with rules.

Together, Jehan and Saraphina decide to complete the traditional 8 days and then go their separate ways. Him back to fight to protect the Breed and her to her mission to provide food and medicine for the displaced. But, one kiss is all it takes for them to understand that there just may be some truth to the magic of the ritual.

Set in Moracco, Lara Adrian gives us glimpses of the life of a prince, a country rife with refugees and the people there trying to make a difference. She shows us both sides of Jehan and Seraphina … the tough and the tender. She brought us on a wild ride through a sand storm and then through the reality of betrayal. She carried on the stories of the Breed with finesse and has us looking forward to more from our favorite Vampires.

This novella has made me not only want to read the book I missed, but to go back and read the entire series over again. ~ Cheyenne, Guilty Pleasures

The Midnight Breed series is one of the first series I starting reading when I found my love for reading once more. I hate to admit that I have missed the last book in the mix of my busy life but when I started Stroke Of Midnight, I didn’t even feel lost. That right there is the thing about this series, you can miss a book and still pick it up and be just as into it as you previously were. Did I maybe miss some important things, I am sure I did but I wasn’t lost and wondering what the hell did I miss. Am I going to go back and read the one I missed? Yep lol.

I loved how even though this was a novella it wasn’t lacking in the heat, action and all the things fans of this series have come to know, love and expect when reading about these sexy Breed males and their Breedmates. Jehan doesn’t want a Breedmate, he doesn’t want to leave the Order. When he is brought home to meet the Breedmate that will help not only keep the treaty intact but also a huge part of tradition he doesn’t know he is about to be knocked on his ass by Seraphina. She doesn’t want to be mated either so these two are the perfect not want to be mated match. How long will it take these two to fall? Hmm gotta read it to find out.

This novella has made me not only want to read the book I missed, but to go back and read the entire series over again. I love rediscovering books that I once loved and finding out that the love I had before is still as strong as it was before.
