This is a serial novel and while this novel could be read as a standalone the story is better understood if you read Wicked Shots and Wicked Exposure first.
After her sisters untimely death, Jessica returns to her childhood home of Portland Maine to wrap up her sisters affairs. She soon finds out that her sister had a TON of secrets and each new discovery Jess makes about her sisters lifestyle takes her further down a dangerous road. Soon she finds she doesn’t know who to trust and that her life may be in danger, especially if she keeps gathering more clues and evidence that her sister’s death was no random act of violence.
Sam is the detective investigating Cass, Jessica’s sister’s murder. He also happens to be A childhood friend of the family and Jessica’s former flame. Their relationship is complicated and didn’t end well. Now that they’ve been reunited the sparks fly and their steamy romance takes off. But all is not well and as the case unravels both Sam and Jess find themselves fighting for their lives.
This novel is a classic “whodunnit” with more twists and turns than a bowl of spaghetti! I didn’t know who to trust because it seemed everyone had something to hide. I enjoyed the story and the sex was steamy. The BDSM aspects of the story gave it some spice, but seemed irrelevant at times. I will reiterate what I said in the beginning. Read Wicked Shots and Wicked Exposure first because this story will make more sense if you do.
