The banter between Rain and Craig was smart and fun, and I enjoyed getting to know Craig better, but I was a little disappointed in this latest On Dublin Street novella. ~ Java Girl, Guilty Pleasures

25695682Description:
When he’s not working at the club, Craig Lanaghan looks out for his mother and little sisters. So when it comes to women, all he wants is a good time. But once Rain Alexander walks into his life, there’s no denying that this woman could be worth much more than a one-night stand….

Rain’s lifelong regret is having left her sister Darcy alone years ago with a guardian who turned out to be abusive. So when Darcy’s boyfriend publicly humiliates her in a cruel way, Rain’s overprotective instincts kick in and she follows him to Club 39—where she meets a guy who just might be her perfect match.

The chemistry between Rain and Craig is explosive, but Rain is out for revenge, and refuses to be sidetracked by flirtation. As things between them heat up, she’ll have to make a heartbreaking choice between giving in to the man of her dreams or putting her sister’s happiness first….

I’m always excited to catch up with the characters from one of my all-time favorite series, On Dublin Street. One King’s Way, the latest novella in Samantha Young’s recently ended series left me with mixed feelings. The last few novels in the series have been set many years after the first book, On Dublin Street. One King’s Way takes place during the same timeframe as the first couple of books, when Joss and Jo work at Club 39. It focuses on their friend and co-worker,Craig Lanaghan and Rain Alexander, a woman he meets in the bar. I really enjoyed getting to know Craig and his family. His backstory was interesting, and his reaction to his widowed mother’s decision to begin online dating was very entertaining. Craig is charming, flirty, hardworking, and devoted to his family. There really is much to love about him. Unfortunately, I didn’t feel the same about Rain. The banter between the two of them was smart and fun, but I found her to be frustrating, and at times, unrealistic in her demands and unwilling to compromis, even a little. Her backstory is heartbreaking, but her guilt and lack of communication with her younger sister, combined with her martyr complex, didn’t work for me. Fans of this series will want to read this one, but I was a little disappointed.
