I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It was fun, witty and, interesting. Anna Banks kept me entertained and interested in wanting to find out how everything was going to play out both on and off screen. ~ Kitty, Guilty Pleasures

OMG, I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It was fun, witty and, interesting. There may not have been a rose ceremony, but the dates leading up to the Sweet Pea bouquets were hilarious. Anna Banks kept me entertained and interested in wanting to find out how everything was going to play out between Grant and Chelle both on and off screen,

Rochelle was a riot right from the beginning. Her hijinks trying to get off of the reality show, Luring Love, were nothing short of classic. When she ordered Fireball shots, she won my heart! I loved her little tricks, I loved why she stayed on the show, I loved the way she finally came to Grant’s defense, faced the past and looked forward to the future.
Grant was no slacker either. He enjoyed Rochelle’s torment and understood why she was trying to get voted off the show, but he had no idea as to why she was sticking around and not just quitting. Try as he might, no matter what he did or said … no matter how much she disgraced him, herself, the integrity of the show, she stuck around. When they finally reconnect and start realizing exactly what went wrong with their relationship, he knows that he never fell out of love with her and will do whatever he has to to keep her on the show. Even face the threat of death by lethal walnuts.
When the two of them got together, you had no idea what was going to happen. Were they going to argue? Were they going to try to make each other jealous? Were they finally going to clear the air and talk about what really happened ten years ago? It was anyone’s guess as to what would happen. And, thanks to meddling directors, unsavory producers and girls out for blood, everything did happen.
So, I really did have fun reading How to Lose a Bachelor. The women were cut-throat and the bachelor was a real pushover that knew exactly who and what he wanted to happen … well, once he got over the shock. Anna Banks really won me over with the humor and wit portrayed within the pages of this story and I am looking forward to reading more from her.

As much as I love reunion stories, How To Lose A Bachelor just didn’t work; while I liked the characters I felt their actions didn’t fit their personalities and despite an ending I thoroughly enjoyed there just wasn’t enough real story to save it. ~ Slick, Guilty Pleasures

I’m going to be upfront and admit I don’t watch reality television and the reason I don’t watch it is because I don’t like the sensationalism and the fact that people do stupid things in the name of ratings. I honestly believe they are a big factor of what is wrong with our society today so I had some issues with How To Lose A Bachelor because it takes place during the filming of a “bachelor type” reality show. With the heroine being an attorney and the hero being a self made very successful businessman this could have been a very smart and entertaining book, but for the most part it was kind of sad and slapstick and it really didn’t work for me. The only part that did work for me is the fact that these two people who obviously had never forgotten one another and loved one another found each other again.
Rochelle Randsom auditioned for Luring Love as a selfless act; she intends to win the prize money to keep Helping Hands, a charity she founded for battered women, afloat. Having survived a childhood filled with domestic violence this is something that is near and dear to Rochelle’s heart. I genuinely liked Rochelle and felt she was not only a good person but smart and savvy which is why I couldn’t understand the way she presented herself on the show, the damage it could cause her career, not to mention any attorney hoping to make partner being able to take 12 weeks off of work to film said show, but that’s a whole other issue I have with this story. The one thing that was obvious was that despite her saying she hated the bachelor Grant Drake, her feelings were much different.
I found it interesting that Grant Drake only agreed to do the show last minute when his college friend told him that Rochelle would be a contestant on the show. (We won’t talk about all the legalities of them already knowing one another and how that voided contracts and such.) I liked Grant and felt he was a stand up guy although he seemed to hold a grudge against Rochelle for leaving him to attend law school despite the fact he broke up with her so she would go.
I just find it hard to believe that two very successful and intelligent people would still be so wrapped up in something that happened years ago that they had to resort to childish pranks to “get revenge” on each other. An attorney who argues for a living and a man who negotiates business deals by the dozen aren’t smart enough to take a few minutes to talk, clear the air and move forward? I just had a very hard time envisioning either of them making themselves look like fools in front of millions of viewers and that’s what it came down to for me, I know this is fiction but for me it has to be a bit believable or it just doesn’t work and this one didn’t work.
My favorite scenes were when they returned to their home town and spent time with Grant’s mom, it was the only time I felt they were being true to themselves and each other and had that story been written, I think I would have loved it but this one was a miss for me.
