Shalvis_NobodyButYou_MMDescription:
SOMETIMES YOU CAN GO HOME AGAIN…

After an overseas mission goes wrong, Army Special Forces officer Jacob Kincaid knows where he must go to make things right: back home to the tiny town of Cedar Ridge, Colorado. All he needs to scrub away his painful past is fresh mountain air, a lakeside cabin, and quiet solitude. But what he discovers is a gorgeous woman living on a boat at his dock.

Sophie Marren has nowhere else to go. She’s broke, intermittently seasick, and fighting a serious attraction to the brooding, dishy, I’m-too-sexy-for-myself guy who’s now claiming her dock. Something about Jacob’s dark intensity makes her want to tease—and tempt—him beyond measure. Neither one wants to give any ground . . . until they realize the only true home they have is with each other.

I honestly thought this book was going to be a favorite of mine because we knew so little about the hero who had been mentioned by not around in the first two books of this series; knowing he left after a horrible fight with his twin and joined the military where he’s remained the last 10 years, I was curious about him and interested to see how his story would play out. While Nobody But You was entertaining, often humorous and very sexy, I felt as if I was missing a piece of the puzzle like maybe a novella came out in between the last book and this one, but that isn’t the case so this book as left me wondering a great many things.

After a devastating loss of one of his best friends and the injury of another one, Jacob Kincaid has returned to Cedar Ridge to heal and with hopes of apologizing and reconnecting with his estranged family, most especially his twin brother. His first day back in town he runs into a somewhat disheveled, seemingly a wee bit crazy redhead who is moored illegally on the dock of the cabin he is renting. Sophie Marren’s life hasn’t turned out the way she hoped and 6 months after her divorce from her cheating scumbag ex, she’s trying hard to make something of herself. When Jacob and Sophie meet there are obvious sparks, but she is “off men” and while he’s interested he knows he has no business getting involved with someone when he’s only on leave however they both figure out a short term fling with no emotions might be what the both need.

I enjoyed the way Sophie and Jacob played off one another, their crazy banter and their sexual innuendos although I will admit another mention of 50 Shades in this book might have sent me screaming from the room. The both were hurting in different ways; they both obviously needed some physical intimacy and while most of Jacob’s family was happy to have him back and wanted him close Sophie’s lack of self worth stems from years of trying to prove herself to her family and her smarmy ex-husband. While these two filled a physical need with each other, it became apparent they also needed each other in an emotional sense something neither one was willing to own up to for quite some time.

As with every book in this series, I thoroughly enjoyed the interactions between the Kincaid siblings and it was fantastic to see a whole lot more of sister, Kenna, and get a good look at her sparkling personality but this is also where this book fell short for me. This is a close knit group and with the exception of Jacob’s twin, Hudson, they welcomed him back with open arms yet Aidan’s girlfriend Lily (couple from book one) was NEVER mentioned which I found completely strange and while the Gray and Hudson’s significant others were briefly around, we also found out that Kenna had a thing with a man who was briefly mentioned in book one which was really confusing. I just felt like a big chunk of this book was missing.

Even with my issues with this book, Nobody But You by author Jill Shalvis had intriguing characters, heartwarming family interactions, snarky and funny dialog and a great love story despite the odds; in other words a pretty perfect romance.
