Lydia Carpenter has her life in perfect order; unfortunately keeping things in perfect order has 
caused her emotions to shut down. She shut down many, many years ago and only pours her heart into things that can’t love her back. Waking up in Las Vegas, wasn’t part of her plans, as her election for mayor is drawing near, she decides to play it out. As Lydia gets further and further into her fake marriage, she realizes that processing her feelings from the past is the only way to move forward and accept love, truly become part of Copper Ridge.
Colton West did not picture himself being left at the altar, and within 24 hours he’s married. His whole life Colton has been groomed to take over the family ranching business. However, with bothers skipping town and family marital secrets reeking havoc on the West family, Colton steps in and takes over it all. Protector, adviser, business manager, brother, son and now a husband, Colton is forced to take a stand and do what’s best for him.
I really enjoyed reading Tough Luck Hero, I felt the title was so fitting for the couple. Colton and Lydia were heroes, to each other, neither one knew they needed rescued until they found themselves becoming people they didn’t want to be. Cold and snotty would have been a good way to describe the early days in their relationship. I was almost to give up on Lydia with how she was treating Colton but she redeemed herself, I was rooting for her by the end of the novel. The characters were blended perfectly into a supporting cast, I’m intrigued enough to go searching for previous novels in the Copper Ridge series. The plot was a good mix of emotions, characters and surprise. There were a couple of plot twist that happened, I never saw coming. Tough Luck Hero was a great read, easily placed in a reread category and I’m eagerly anticipating the next release, Last Chance Rebel.
